This film could be just like the "
Incredible Hulk".. A hint that what happend in the original movie took place, but it's obviously in a different universe now. A "Requel" if you will. ;)
Now I would just like to say while I enjoyed the first film for what it was.. Daredevil belongs in the upper echelon of CBM lore with Batman and Spider-Man. He is a hero the everyday man understands and can sypathize with the motivations. Street Level heroes have always been my favorites and it would be good to see DD get some justice.
A few filmakers that can make this movie work within the MCU and still keep it grounded and believable without losing the spectacular elements. Nolan and Aronofsky come to mind.. but they are presently occupied with other CBM's. The next best thing I can think of is actualy my favorite director today..
David Fincher.
The guy is almost in the upper echelon of legendary filmakers and the only reason why he isn't considered for it is because an Oscar for Best Picture has always eluded him, which might change after
The Social Network crew arrives at the Academy Awards. His gritty and visualy provacative style draws comparisons to Stanley Kubrick and I feel he would be perfect for this film. "Hells Kitchen" always has a rainy, dystopian and dark atmosphere.
In Se7en, Fincher brought that to life. Great dialogue, action and pulpy screenplay? watch
Fight Club. Tense and emotional scenes?
Panic Room. Fantastic special effects?
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. He has it all to make this work.
Ok, now on to the fan-casting..
DARDEVIL/Matt Murdock: Chris Pine
(Star Trek, Unstoppable)
I have to admit, Michael C. Hall was my first choice, but the guy is getting up there in age and since this is hopefully a franchise ala' Nolan's Batman, I want an actor around the same age Bale was when he got the role of Bruce Wayne, around 30. As far as the actual choice of him, he has the demanor of Matt when he is just a blind lawyer, but can get serious when shit hits the fan. I think he has yet to prove he has the range to be a tormented hero, but i'm willing to give him a shot. ;)
THE ROSE/Richard Fisk: Jesse Eisenburg
(Zombieland, The Social Network)
I like this guy's acting ability, with Fincher he made perhaps the best movie of 2010 and him playing Son of The Kingpin would be pretty interesting to see. In this movie The Rose will take over his fathers business and have a vendetta with DD.
Karen Page: Rooney Mara
(Nightmare on Elm Street, The Social Network)
Was good in Social Network and could be a potential lead lady/love interest, She's hot as hell and looks like Karen Page so this works for me , directors like to pick actors who they are familiar with to maximize their ability.
Foggy Nelson: Seth Rogen
(Knocked Up, Green Hornet)
Surprised some people with Green Hornet, guy would be a perfect for Foggy and bring a certain lighter side to the film. Comic relief.
TYPHOID MARY/ Mary Walker: Milla Jovovich
(The Fifth Element, The Resident Evil Franchise)
Veteran action movie badass gets her biggest role yet as a schizophreneic assassin who is hired by Wilson Fisk from prison. She is an underated dramatic actress as well. Typhoid would definetly be an interesting villain on camera.
Ben Urich: Hugh Laurie
(The House Series)
It's Dr.House as a obsessed yet helpful Daily Bugle Journalist. Nuff said.
THE KINGPIN/Wilson Fisk: Val Kilmer
(Heat, Alexander)
Heh.. obvious fat joke aside, he would be good for this if you think about it. He isn't that much bigger than a realistic Kingpin would look like and the guy is still a phenomenal actor. He would just be in prison anyway and only make a few dealings behind the scenes.
STICK: Vincent Cassell
(Eastern Promises, Black Swan)
I know he may not seem old enough for this role, but Fincher managed to make Bard Pitt look 80 so it doesn't matter.. what matters is that this guy would own as "Stick".. good screen presence and physical ability. It would only be for a some flashback scenes when DD would think about his training. He also ties into Elektra for a sequel.
"Battling" Jack Murdock: Holt McCallany
(Fight Club, Lights Out)
No brainer. Have this guy in for a few flashback scenes as Matts dad.
THE PUNISHER/Frank Castle: Thomas Jane
(The Punisher, Scott Pilgrim vs.The World)
;).. Bring back Jane for Big Pun. Have him do a few scenes with Daredevil to reintroduce him into the MCU. Few cameos, nothing major.. He could kill Richard Fisk when DD refuses too. Those Daredevil&Punisher teams ups are legendary and it would be cool if Fincher could make it work, while relaunching Punisher in the process. ;)
