This was an idea that occurred to me a few days ago: What if the Looney Tunes were real people, which actors would portray them? Forgetting that, for the most part, they are animals, which actor would be best, based on previous roles and appearances, to portray these famous cartoon characters?
Of course, this is all in good fun, and I thought it would be a fun thing to do. Also, for anybody who might be a stickler, the Looney Tunes have been turned into a comic book before, so I guess it meets the guidelines of a “comic book movie”.
So, without further ado, let’s get on with the show!
Reason: For this iconic character, I think only Neil Patrick Harris can pull of the fun loving, adventurous bunny. His role in
How I Met Your Mother inspired me, as he plays a fun, freewheeling guy who also enjoys dressing up in costumes.
Reason: For Bugs Bunny’s just-as-famous-co-star, I picked Jim Parsons of the
Big Bang Theory fame. Jim Parsons is able to convey a somewhat angry character, which does borderline insane things and is easily manipulated, as is Daffy Duck.
Reason: I like Jim Belushi a lot. His role in
According to Jim helped me pick him as Elmer Fudd. He is a scheming man who enjoys doing outrageous stunts. Also he has played similarly obsessed characters in the
K-9 series and
The Principal.
Reason: I read an article once where Anne Hathaway described her character of the White Queen in
Alice in Wonderland like a bunny sticker that reads: “cute but psycho”. I kind of like that description of Lola Bunny – she’s adorable but don’t get on her bad side or she’ll rip you apart.
Reason: Jonah Hill has played characters that are relatable to Porky Pig. Porky Pig is a very timid character who often overreaches for what he wants. I think Jonah Hill’s roles in
Superbad,
Money Ball and
Funny People suit him for the role of Porky.
Reason: J.K. Simmons can play angrily oblivious characters, like his role in Sam Raimi’s
Spider-Man films. I imagine that’s how Yosemite Sam is, only LOUDER and more arm movements.
Wile E. Coyote & Road Runner
These two go together, and would only work if these two actors were cast in these roles.
Reason: Rainn Wilson is best known for his role on the U.S. version of the
The Office as Dwight K. Schrute. In these episodes he schemes of ways to get rid of Jim Halpert, but is often (always) outdone by Jim. I think this scheming, obsessive quality of Dwight would translate well to the self-proclaimed “super genius” Wile E. Coyote.
Reason: John Krasinski is best known for his role in
The Office as Jim Halpert. He is constantly outwitting Dwight (Wile E. Coyote) and usually upstages Dwight’s schemes so that they backfire.
Reason: For this girl seeking skunk, I have chosen Ashton Kutcher. His role in
That 70’s Show helped me, as I see Pepe being more along the lines of wanting the girl, but being too naïve to realize why they don’t want him. Ashton Kutcher can pull off woman seeking as well as naïve real well.
Reason: Betty White IS Granny. There is no other choice when picking the overly sweet, but kick-ass grandmother and protector of Tweety.
Reason: This may seem like an odd choice, but I think Ricky Gervais has a boyish face and could pull of the smart-aleck Tweety Bird well enough. He is good at taunting and always having witty comebacks.
Reason: Plain and simple, Sylvester the Cat is a con man. And when I think of a con man, I think of Josh Holloway from the
Lost fame. I think he would be terrific as the conning cat trying to snag the tasty bird.
Reason: Will Ferrell is a terrific actor and his performance in
Zoolander helped convince me he would be spectacular as the Martian bent on world domination.
Well this is my cast, I hope you enjoyed it!
