I explain why this movie might not work.

1. Man of Steel was met with mixed reviews. You either love it or hate it. The sequel should fix its problems. There needs to be more character development. We need to see Clark Kent.

2. Batman needs his own film first. In this World's Finest film, you need to introduce Jim Gordon, Alfred, Robin, and the rest of Batman's supporting characters.

3. This is too soon for a Batman film. People complained with The Amazing Spider-Man, saying it was only 5 years after Spider-Man 3. Those same people are now praising this decision to make World's Finest, which is a Batman reboot/Man of Steel sequel. By this film's release, it will have only been 3 years since the disappointing conclusion to Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. That is disrespectful to Nolan, after all he did to save the Batman franchise.

4. We need other DC movies, besides Batman and Superman. Where are the Flash and Wonder Woman films everyone wants? In fact, where is the much anticipated Justice League film?

These points prove that DC fails at movies. I am still excited for this film. I am just worried. Until DC does something right, make mine Marvel!

You spend time telling the world why this movie may not work and end off by expressing interest in getting a Justice League. Two characters together, its too early. Five characters together, what the [frick] is taking WB/DC so long? Really?

I'm really excited for Superman vs Batman. I can't wait for a Flash film. But I agree with you, I'd like to see more DC characters. I'd really like to see an Aquaman film.

Ok one your just an absolute idiot. You dont have to introduce any batman supporting characters yet it make him more mysterious, which is what the character is based on mystery. And you missed comic con then I guess flash is coming the year after then JLA right after that but nice try dumbass

It's always fun to speculate so your article is entertaining to analyze & think about.

That being said, the movie is going to happen & to be fair, being positive about a CBM is better than being negative about its potential.

i do agree. superman needs more time being superman.and how can they reboot batman skipping many things such a solo movie or an origins story. and also we just had an spectacular batman triology, 3 years is not enough at least make like spiderman and reboot in 4 years.

Batman just had three films throughout the past decade to introduce him to audience members, after a prior decade where he had four films. I think, even if this is a new incarnation of Batman, audiences are familiar enough with him that his appearance won't be jarring. I also like how you say "the disappointing conclusion to Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy", and immediately after say it would be disrespectful to introduce a new Batman so soon afterward because of "all he did to save the franchise." That's just, two completely different trains of thought right there. I also don't think he'll view it as disrespectful, due to the fact that he's an executive producer on the film.

"These points prove that DC fails at movies.Until DC does something right, make mine Marvel!"

Yet another Marvel fanboy expressing his obviously biased opionion of a film he has yet to see of has even begun production. This is why I can't take you fanboys seriously when you rant and start Troll Wars.

They should make Batman the 'villain' of this World's Finest to Superman....Come up with an interesting story involving Bruce Wayne coming to Metropolis to clean it up alongside Lex Luthor. He also wants to investigate this so called 'menace' that destroyed the city, according to what Luthor has been spreading.

They meet the first time and fight....Batman barely gets away. They dont talk or anything, just see each other. End the second act with another fight where Batman gets the upper hand using Kryptonite gotten from Luthor and beats Superman, and with them both realizing they are not the enemy. Batman loses the Kryptonite in the fight though. The real enemy is clearly Lex.

Third act, they team up and go against Luthor and whoever else (Metallo, Parasite, etc....some sort of Luthor created henchman villain).....

Luthor can escape to fight another day, Batman and Superman beat his creation, overcoming their differences, etc etc....end the movie with Superman giving Batman a Kryptonite shard for safekeeping, should the need arise.

On the other hand, have the Daily Planet team, Clark, Lois, and Jimmy also trying to get to the bottom of what Luthor is doing.

Clark and Lois have to deal with their relationship.

The public does not trust Superman yet, between the events of MoS, and due to the lies spread by Luthor. Every time he goes into action as Superman, he is hated and negatively received.

I just thought all of this up in a few minutes.....There's more to be added and whatnot, obviously, but I think this would be an interesting way of doing this movie.

Make Batman and Luthor the main "villains" of the movie.

I also like World's Finest more. I was just wondering why you seem to be under the impression that "Batman vs. Superman" is the current title? I don't think there has been any announcement on that yet.

I actually think this is a clever way to reintroduce batman without having to retell his origin, I think mainstream culture knows batman well enough to just introduce a fully formed batman as the nick fury equivalent.

Which means that that's the title of the movie now? Media outlets called TDKR "Batman 3" until WB revealed the title, so I don't the Media really matters.

It's absolutely true that Man of Steel deserves/needs a sequel to bring Superman closer to a fully baked version of the character before he was pulled into these kinds of shenanigans.

I think Batman could loosely use the Nolan trilogy as a jumping off point and merely play on people's familiarity with those. Perhaps not explicitly say it's that exact incarnation, but imply it enough to where people fill in the rest. Batman Forever retained bits and bobs from Batman Returns, but it goes without saying that it was a wildly different take, and it felt like "things were possible" suddenly that weren't before.

I think Batman can appear in a crossover movie without being re-established, but for Supes - considering where Man of Steel left him - it really barely makes sense.

But WB/DC are rushing things, and it's even more transparent than I thought it would be. If they had any tact in the matter, they'd do at least MoS2 and Wonder Woman along with The Flash before JL. It's very obvious that they just want things out the door and catch up to Marvel ASAP, however, and the integrity of these movies are lower on their list of priorities.

I think most of all it's unfair to Cavill and co. who - though they got off to a wonky start with MoS - had many people's goodwill in terms of righting the ship with a sequel. Instead that's being chucked out because of business/marketing decisions. It genuinely makes me sad.

You know why a Batman/Superman film is good for 2015?

That year marks the 75th anniversary of the first time Batman and Superman met.

Think about that for a second.

This film WILL fail and fail miserably because:

1) The Dark Knight Trilogy is the most critically and commercially successful set of DC films that Warner Brothers has ever made. It was the inspiration style wise for the current Man of Steel movie. Audiences will almost definitely be disappointed in the new Batman who is being rebooted...for NO reason!

2) It both shows Warner Brother's desperation and lack of faith in their comic book titles. People will eventually get sick of Batman now going into his eight film in the last two decades.

3) Looking at Warner Brother's history it has NEVER rebooted/recast a DC character successfully without a tie in movie that introduced the character first. It failed critically with George Clooney, Val Kilmer, and Brandon Routh. Plus outside of the Nolan Batman films and the Nolan inspired Man of Steel, it has produced only four out of 17 DC comic movies that were considered successful commercially and critically. One half of Zack Snyder's 6 films (the most recent three) have registered as Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes versus Christopher Nolan who has NEVER had a film that was considered rated as "Rotten."

I can't believe this article got thumbs up. I worked my butt off, and it was successful with no complaints, but not a single thumbs up. Very frustrating.

This movie will work, because its a safe bet. Thats why WB is going with it. The two characters that guarantees profit.
