If you're unfamiliar with the Fantastic Four comic books, then you may be unaware that Sue Storm is, in fact, the most powerful member of the team.
"Wait, she can only turn invisible...how is she stronger than The Thing?"
It's a valid question, and while that was initially the extent of the Invisible Woman's powers, her ability to generate force fields is what makes her a true force to be reckoned with. Even Doctor Doom has acknowledged that Sue is the strongest superhero in Marvel's First Family, and we're not exactly surprised casting the hero is a top priority for Marvel Studios.
We recently learned that they're looking to build the team around whoever is cast as the character, and scooper Jeff Sneider offered a small update about that during a recent chat with John Rocha.
Apparently, Marvel Studios is looking for an actress aged between 30 - 35 (which takes Emily Blunt, who recently turned 40, out of the running) with Fifty Shades and Madame Web star Dakota Johnson the "prototype." Sneider stresses she's unlikely to be cast and notes that it doesn't necessarily mean whoever is will be white.
When She-Hulk was being cast, we heard Kevin Feige wanted an Alison Brie-type and Tatiana Maslany was later chosen, so this is likely a good indication of what we can eventually expect to see on screen.
WandaVision director Matt Shakman will be at the helm of Fantastic Four, and while a lot of names have been rumoured for Reed Richards, no one has been cast yet. We've heard nothing about the Human Torch and The Thing, though Galactus and the Silver Surfer are expected to serve as the reboot's main antagonists.
With the movie coming out in very close proximity to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the team is expected to be front and centre there alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on February 14, 2025.
