Here's how I would do Fantastic 4. First let Marvel get it back. Then do a movie set in the 60's where I think it would be the best way to introduce them and stay completely true to their original origin. Introduce doom who would also be cool in the 60's and you could lift his costume straight from the comic. Maybe throw in a Shield reference or two and end the movie with them and doom trapped in the negative zone. Then let the negative zone get reopened during the infinity war at the end of part 1 and bring them into part 2 full on. Then set up their second movie present day to start Phase 4 or whatever it would be by then. I grew up on John Byrne FF4 and that's the kind of movie I want to see.

I'm seriously not trying to jump on any type of bandwagon, but I can't believe I actually defended this. It's a sad world when post- Avengers, Guardians and even the first three films including one on a string-budget is better than the shit they made with millions of dollars and an all-star cast and up-and-coming young director. For [frick] sake, the most over-used shot of Thing falling from the plane isn't even in the film 0_0 Every troubled production and background rumor I'm inclined to believe now, I just don't understand how we got the movie we're getting.

I find it funny how people think because of the RT score for the film, the rights will revert back like that.

How long did it for Daredevil and Elektra's rights to revert after their films?

Also are we forgetting the 2 Tim Story FF films RT was in the 20s and the rights didn't revert?

Fox brought themselves 7 years of having the Fantastic Four rights on their shelf before Marvel gets the rights back.

Besides the most important thing is box office. If Fant4stic has a good box office or doesn't go GL levels of flop, the rights will stay and a sequel will happen.

davethewall: Here's how I would do Fantastic 4.
Me: All right, this should be interesting.
davethewall: First let Marvel get it back.
Me: Nope.

"So here we are. Fantastic Four. A reboot of a set of mediocre films, which came off the back of an early 90's "lets make this to keep the rights" crapfest that wasn't meant to see the light of day."

I don't want the rights back at Marvel, I just want Fox to stop being [frick]ing dumb

There is NO ROOM for a F4 movie in the MCU lineup, unless you want one in 2022

Stop with that shit

Marvel won't be able to buy the rights back.

This isn't Sony where Sony as a company in financially in shit.

Fox is doing very well as a company financially. They can take a flop.

@davethewall,
I like that idea! It sounds like a bit like First Class. I love the John Byrne era also and that's what I always think about when it comes to FF. They had a such a great run during that time. So many cool characters were introduced.

Maybe the next reboot will give us the jaw-dropping, dynamically dysfunctional, abstract science fantasy =(

Fantastic 4 would not be able to work in the established MCU. The Fantastic 4's powers are too fantastical for the MCU and the same way the studios watered down Hulk, Vision and Thor, they would water down the Fantastic 4.
MrCBM56
MrCBM56 - 8/5/2015, 9:07 AM
At this point I'd kill for Fantastic Four to be in Marvel hands, but obviously that's a slim chance. They need some type of Galactus and Silver Surfer deal though.

@BlackHulk

While I don't want the rights at Marvel, the MCU will have Dr. Strange and Captain Marvel soon........

Plenty of "fantastical" powers are on the way already

If Marvel had FF, they wouldn't use the FF. The franchise is dead after this movie, or after this franchise is finished. If it's as bad as most of the world is saying it is, then Marvel wouldn't try to make another movie out of them, they'd just use the characters it gives them, like Annihilus, Galactus, and Silver Surfer.

I really wanted this to be good. But last time I checked a black Human Torch didn't affect the film at all so the racist fanboys still kind of lose. My thoughts about the film don't change though. Dammit Trank

Agreed.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 8/5/2015, 9:21 AM
@Omarvls

But... If the movie is truly horrible as some say
I'm sure you would want to see them in the MCU instead of a reboot or a sequel

The bottom line we all want to see good CBM and if Fox is incapable of making a good F4 I'm sure you would want Marvel to give it a shot in Phase 4

Right?

Won't disagree but I'm looking from a business POV.

Why would Fox just give the rights back? What are they gaining?

The rights will only come back if they don't make a film like how Daredevil's rights came back.

I'm excited for the sequel and the crossover they'll use to save the franchise.
