FOX Taps Jeremy Slater To Pen FANTASTIC 4 Reboot

Following finally attaching a director, trades suggest that FOX is now finalizing a deal with up-and-coming writer Jeremy Slater to pen the screenplay for the Fantastic Four reboot! Check it out!

Only days after announcing that Chronicle director Josh Trank will officially helm the anticipated Fantastic Four reboot, word has gotten out that FOX is near closing a deal with an up-and-coming scribe to pen the screenplay.

Further indicating that the studio is serious about the highly necessary reboot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Jeremy Slater has been hired to write the screenplay. Although considered "up-and-coming," Slater has penned screenplays for a "teen spy comedy" titled My Spy in addition to Tape 4, a horror piece.

Beyond a swarm of rumors from years ago, some of which claim The Thing will be fully CG, nothing solid is known about the reboot. What we do know is that the film will follow The Wolverine and X-Men: First Class sequels on Fox's Marvel slate. And there is also a specified release date set, although unknown. What we can assume, now with a director and writer filled, casting for the Fantastic Four reboot should be in order. What do you think?

They expect to have this guy write a full draft and start production by the end of this year?!

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it announced that they'd lose rights in not in production by fall? If so, I wouldn't be too stoked about this at all.

^They'll lose the rights to Daredevil by fall, not FF. According to previous reports, FF is scheduled to go into production following the First Class sequel. That starts filming in January, so FF will probably begin filming around next summer.

There we go. Thanks Tazmaniak... knew I may have been forgetting something.

Also ksommer, I would think this would be considered "Pre-Production" which I was under the understanding that is different than "In Production" but of course I'm not a lawyer nor do I know much about Film Rights contracts.

@KaneVonDoom, in terms of the Daredevil rights, I think "in production by fall" means they have to actually be filming a movie by fall.

Maybe now they will have a Thing that isn't shorter than Sue, and has the ability to life more than a pickup truck! I'm stoked!

1. They need to be explorers of fictional places
2. Casting has to be great
3. No creative licensing with powers, personality etc.
4. If Doom be the real Doom but you should save him for a sequel
5. Don't over explain their origin
6. No Clouds, smoke, or mist as a villain
7. Don't cast Captain America as Torch
8. No corny dance scenes please
9. More action and bigger stakes
10. Less romance and BS

As a matter of fact just don't make it Fox and give it back to Marvel.

I seriously hope this falls through, along with plans to reboot DD. Outside of First Class I have yet to enjoy a FOX Marvel movie.

I can't wait to see this reboot.
I love the Fantastic 4, I want to see a more mature adaptation.
With a great cast too!

Don't be so naive. FOX rebooting Fantastic Four can't be a good thing.

Of course I want this film over at Disney— but while Fox's is going ahead with this, I hope they set it in 1960s (Space Race era). I'm hoping for a fun "Zombieland-ride" of a movie.

Why don't they get the guys that wrote Thor & X-Men: FC? They said they wanted to write this. I say let them.

If they're doing Doctor Doom again, at least make him an Ernest Blofeld character. Mad Thinker, Mole Man, or Annihilus would be great. Heck, even that old rumor about them going straight into the Galactus story is fine.

Sonofab!tch, they are fast tracking this so they don't lose the rights...

this is like news about Ant Man... we get an article every week... the info is the same, only the names have changed...

FOX wants to keep the rights so they are gonna rush and mess it up...AGAIN.

@monkeyballs, how would there powers not look great on screen with today's tech and cgi? You can't judgeby the past ff movies. If the last two ff movies werent family oriented there powers would have looked fantastic. Instead of go go gadgeting for some tp maybe reed would have been go go gadgeting someone in the face

Josh Trank is a good director, he's new but proved he can Direct a hit movie with 'Chronicle'. It's good to have fresh eyes on a project.

And they seem to have faith in Jeremy Slater to hire him for this project even being such a new writer.

As far as the all CG Thing i feel like it will work now as opposed to it not working back in the day.

Nicolaj Coster-Waldau would be [frick]ing great Doom. Thomas Kretschmann is my other choice. He was great as the vampire leader Damaskinos in Blade 2. He has made lots of other great performances too so i think he would be ideal choice as Victor Von Doom.

Rufus Sewell and Mads Mikkelsen would be awesome too but i want to see Sewell as Baron Mordo and Mikkelsen as Ulysses Klaw now that he is not anymore the villain of Thor 2.
AlexDeLarge87
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/13/2012, 1:53 PM
Paul Bettany would be ace as Doom also.
