We had been led to believe that the cast of Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot would be revealed as soon as the strikes were resolved, but a recent report indicated that at least some of the main players have yet to be finalized, and an announcement is likely still a ways off.
The one cast member who is said to be a "lock" is Vanessa Kirby, who believed to be playing Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman.
The Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning actress has previously side-stepped questions about her potential involvement in the project, and she's not about to break now - even when the interviewer changes tactics.
Kirby was asked outright if Marvel is going to announce her as Storm at the premiere of her latest film, Ridley Scott's Napoleon, and responded with a laugh: "You'll have to ask them!" She then reiterated that she would be "honoured" to land the role.
Far from confirmation, obviously, but we're getting the impression Kirby knows at least a little more than she's willing to disclose.

Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn was said to be close to signing on to play Sue's brother, Johnny, and The Bear and Netflix's Punisher actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach is still rumored to be up for Ben Grimm, aka The Thing. Adam Driver's name is frequently brought up as a contender for Reed Richards, but Jake Gyllenhaal is now said to be Marvel's first choice to play Mr. Fantastic.
Richards is expected to lead the team, but Sue is believed to be the main focus of the story.
Matt Shakman will direct FF from a script by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Plot details are still a mystery, but Kevin Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.
“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” he said in a 2022 interview, comparing this new take on the heroes to Marvel Studios' pact with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”
Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
