BOX OFFICE: HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS Takes $500,000 At Midnight Showings
Paramount's Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters has kicked off its North American run with a so-so $500,000 in midnight grosses. Hit the jump for details on that and early predictions on how it's set to perform over the weekend!
Deadline reports that Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton) opened to $500,000 on 2000 screens last night before it expands to 3,372 theatres today. This isn't really a particularly good or bad result for a midnight screening of an R-Rated movie of this type, but the studio were hoping for better. Regardless, it is currently expected to take the #1 spot at the North American box office this weekend with a predicted haul of $25 million.
