JUMANJI 3 Begins Production; Check Out A First Look Image From Dwayne Johnson
After the near billion-dollar success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Sony Pictures has fast-tracked a sequel, and just yesterday, on Valentine's Day, the eagerly-awaited Jumanji 3 began production...
Despite heavy competition from Disney/Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Sony's well-received Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle managed to roar to a massive $962.1 million ($404.5M domestic; $557.5M foreign) worldwide, which gave the studio many reasons to fast track a sequel.
With the cast now finalized, the untitled Jumanji 3 officially began production yesterday, and Dwayne Johnson has shared an intriguing first look image featuring a new pair of hands discovering the legendary game.
In addition to Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Ser'Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner will also return from the previous installment, reprising their roles as the avatars and gamers, respectively. They'll be joined by franchise newcomers Awkwafina (Ocean's 8), Danny DeVito (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), and Danny Glover (Sorry to Bother You).
Jake Kasdan is returning to the director's chair with a script from Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.
The film is set to open on December 13, 2019, which will set it up for another showdown with the Skywalker clan as J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode IX opens the following week.
