Preview A 'Tyrion' Centric Chapter From George R.R. Martin's THE WINDS OF WINTER

EW have posted a paragraph from the penultimate novel in the Song Of Ice And Fire saga, which still doesn't have a set release date. It's really not much to go on but it features Tyrion Lannister, seemingly in the middle of some sort of battle involving the Second Sons.

Since the shocking resolution of A Dance With Dragons, fans have been eagerly awaiting the next, and penultimate, novel in the Song Of Ice And Fire saga. Martin is notorious for taking his sweet time on these books - understandable given the quality and sheer density of each one - but it does leave fans a little impatient. Well now EW have posted a few short lines from the novel, which feature most people's favorite character (and certainly their favorite Lannister), Tyrion.

"Somewhere off in the far distance, a dying man was screaming for his mother. “To horse!” a man was yelling in Ghiscari, in the next camp to the north of the Second Sons. “To horse! To horse!” High and shrill, his voice carried a long way in the morning air, far beyond his own encampment. Tyrion knew just enough Ghiscari to understand the words, but the fear in his voice would have been plain in any tongue. I know how he feels."

Not much there to put things in any kind of context, but the entire chapter from which this paragraph is taken will be posted online next month when Random House launch a large update for George R.R. Martin’s "A World of Ice and Fire" app, which will apparently also include many new characters and location descriptions. How are you guys holding up waiting for this next book? I know I'm not doing so well!

I've read everything, but doesn't this article title spoil the fact that Tyrion doesn't die in this season of GOT.... or any other one for the foreseeable future?

The books are fantastic. I think part of the wait is that he's got alot of threads to tie together and can't figure out how to do it. I mean all of these characters need some sort of resolution. Some, like Areya (I know I spelled that wrong) are in the middle of an arch that should take a fairly long time to resolve. I mean ALOT has to happen in the next 2 books. That's difficult. I think the 7 book cap is causing him problems.

I dunno Ror, I wouldn't say 'certainly' the favourite Lannister, Jaime's gone from strength to strength since the first book (hell, I even sided with him when the two argued in ASOS)

My favorite character is Theon Greyjoy. He has had it the worst of any character in the series but he keeps chugging along.

I read up on what happens to Theon in the books due to Ramsay's torture... [frick]ING HELL IS THAT BRUTAL. It's even more painful considering how book Theon used to something of a physical badass.
