A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner, from a screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe(R) characters, the film is scheduled to be released on June 29,2012.

This movie is so important for the fan base. This will set the difference between what fans want and the other target audiences like the last movie. Everyone of us should go see this and prove the studios that when we get what we want we can respond too.

Seems like the latter, in my opinion. The Joes aren't wearing that bullshit X-Men costume, and are going with good old fashion military weaponry instead of robot suits, spy subs and some other third thing that made Rise of Cobra a crappy movie.

As much as I don't like Chanum Tatum for the role he is kind of the guy that the audience can sort of relate to. Killing him wouldn't be a great idea imo, unless they set up a replacement.

Cobra Commander looks so much better than the first movie version. Now if only they would give Storm Shadow a REAL ninja outfit. SS pimp jacket and suit looks really bad.

I've already seen this once, and have since received invites to two more screenings. I may go see it again tomorrow in the hope that I can see the alternate ending.

It seems that they are doing all of the pre-screenings two theaters at a time, presumably to show both endings simultaneously.
