After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. He returned home to Starling City, welcomed by his devoted mother Moira (Susanna Thompson), beloved sister Thea (Willa Holland) and former flame Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy). With the aid of his trusted chauffeur/bodyguard John Diggle (David Ramsey), the computer-hacking skills of Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) and the occasional, reluctant assistance of former police detective, now beat cop, Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), Oliver has been waging a one-man war on crime.

Maybe they will change Zoom's origin story so that he got powers in the same blast that gave Barry his?

That said this kid has won me over in a big way. I think he's a bit skinny but he really captures the nice guy with a lot of heart that is Barry.

@tyrun, totally agreed on the toned down bit. The first ep I was thinking, This is what they're going with?

@MAC

I'm sure once she is in the outfit and hair is done she will look like WW.

Never seen Grant Gustin in anything until Arrow. Really liked how he portrayed Barry. Now I am excited to see how he portrays The Flash.

I'm betting what ever used to create Ollies mask is what he will use to create his costume.

I hope they go the rout of he makes his own suit too, or possibly steals something from star labs. I disliked what they did in the original live action show where the suit was really resistant to friction. A better explaination is anything he touches is brought along by the speed force and is able to move at the same speed he is.

Hence carrying people really fast doesn't hurt them, glass doesnt break when running. ext

I still think it's odd that people didn't notice that the energy from the Particle Reactor explosion arched across the sky when it blew up, and it almost hesitated when hit the police lab. Then again, I don't think it was ever supposed to be "lightning", but a speed force energy. Which would explain the "time standing still" effect when Barry got zapped.

@crimsonflash, I'm pretty sure the the friction angle is how it works in the comics, been a while since I've read up on his costume but I do remember something about that.

If Gal Gadot can be Wonder Woman onscreen, Grant Gustin can easily be the Flash we get in the Justice League.

I am sure we will know more after the midseason break if they are going to connect this to the movies.

@Nivekian
You're on to something and that's what I was thinking as well. It's almost as if it were looking for him and also could the particle accelerator lead to other powers evolving in people? Or is it simply the speed force? Keep in mind the lightning and blast were COMPLETELY GOLD AND YELLOW. Lightning is not normally yellow, right? God dammit Zoom is at it again messing with Barry's life. He probably staged it since he is after all a psychopath...

I assuming the lighting was yellow due to the Particle Accelerator. I am assuming this is how we will get other characters with powers due to same the incident.

I doubt they change Eobard Thawne's origin (Professor Zoom). Especially with Kreisberg and Geoff Johns in charge, they will most likely follow the comics close but with some differences. The only person I think that would try to change it would be Berlanti but he normally improves on the source material. Guggenheim and Berlanti only did bad on Green Lantern due to re-writes, lack of Johns involvement, bad casting, and bad direction. But Kreisberg and Johns are the comicbook guys in charge of Arrow and Flash and they are the guys with the ideas from the comics while Guggenheim and Berlanti try to make it work realistically/grounded on TV but with certain fantasy elements kept in. I say that the majority of the success of the show comes from the direction of these four gentlemen who completely complement each other nicely. Check out Johns twitter, he is always hanging out with Arrow writers and working on ideas.

Nivekian - 12/12/2013, 7:56 PM
I don't think Zoom had anything to do with the blast, but the Flash deals with time travel all the time, I wouldn't doubt he was in two places at once. And the particle accelerator was a component catalyst in giving Barry his powers, I don't think they will use it as Smallville did with Kryptonite giving people powers (I hated when Smallville did that crap).

@ Rokyn and Nivekian

That is interesting
that you noticed it for i need to rewatch it and your theory interesting also about how people may be getting powers from it it.

I forgot where i read it but i was under the impression that barry finally realized the lightning that hit him was actually him thus he turned himself into the flash.
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 12/12/2013, 8:01 PM
Yeah Zoom had nothing to do with the blast at all. Since the first episode Arrow of season 2 they have been hinting at the Particle Accelerator.

You have to remember Zoom came about because of Flash and deep obsession and hate with Flash causes him to go crazy and try to kill or destroy everything he loves.

Also if you watch Flash Paradox, Barry tries to recreate his origins my putting chemicals around him and letting lighting him.

Rokyn

You could tell from the Arrow pilot how heavily the show runners wanted to go with the "Nolan" route but then when they started introducing Deathstroke and Huntress and others, they started gaining confidence on the source material. Especially when Geoff Johns came in, everything changed after that. Manu Bennett was NEVER supposed to be Slade, it was supposed to be that one guy but then they changed him to Billy. Barry Allen was NEVER supposed to be in this show until Grant Gustin came in and gave a great audition. Ra's Al Ghul? They said he was Batman property and off limits. Now? They continue to improve and learn. Great sign. These guys were obviously scared after Green Lantern so I'm sure with some WB pressure, they had to go with the Nolan route. But now? Who saids they can't follow the comics and still be unique/grounded? These guys can.
JackalHyde
JackalHyde - 12/12/2013, 8:07 PM
@ JoeMomma29 true about flashpoint and also i was reading your earlier comment about what if this gives other people powers than it would be a nice hat off to a storyline in the comics wherei believe luthor created a whole bunch of super powered people
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 12/12/2013, 8:11 PM
@ Rokyn

You are so correct, I think CW was very scared to have a show with powers etc..... I think they went the Nolan route to play it safe.

And of course now they have to back track and introduce people with powers. And heck I am fine with that, at least they are listening to the fans.
