It's generally felt that Green Lantern was a bit..well, crap! But there is a large contingent of fans that don't think much or any of the blame for that can be laid at the feet of the movie's star, Ryan Reynolds. Because of this many have wondered if -- despite the first film's woeful performance at the Box Office -- there was any chance Reynolds might return to reprise the role of Hal Jordon in DC and WB's planned Justice League adaptation, or (even more improbably) a Green Lantern sequel. While doing rounds to promote R.I.P.D Reynolds was asked about a possible return by MTV's Josh Horowitz, and here's an excerpt from their report.
With rumors of a "Justice League" movie heating up, it's possible that Reynolds could return for the team-up, despite the disastrous "Green Lantern" box-office results. Possible — but not likely. Horowitz asked Reynolds if he would buy the domain name for greenlanternsequel.com, and the answer was not encouraging. "I don't think you can sell that to anyone," he quipped.
Barring a miracle, I think it's a safe bet that we won't be seeing Reynolds don the green again -- but is that a good thing? We know DC now plan to build a cinematic universe around
Man Of Steel and we'd assume that the character of Green Lantern would be a part of that. Sure his first solo outing didn't work out, but couldn't they save a lot of time and effort by giving Reynolds another shot at it? Or are you one of the fans that think the actor most certainly CAN be blamed for
Green Lantern's shortcomings? Sound off below.
