In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, an elite force of protectors for peace and justice has existed for centuries. They are the Green Lantern Corps. When a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of the Corps' newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Bringing the popular superhero to the big screen for the first time, Green Lantern also stars Blake Lively (Gossip Girl), Peter Sarsgaard (Orphan), Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes), Academy Award® nominee Angela Bassett* and Academy Award® winner Tim Robbins**.

GREEN LANTERN was directed by Martin Campbell, from a script written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Michael J. Green, and Michael Goldenberg. The film starred: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Tim Robbins, Taika Waititi, Temuera Morrison, and Angela Bassett.

I'd like to know how did Berlanti & Guggenheim got their second chance with Warner Bros (with Arrow) after writing this thing??

The same as Simon Kinberg got his second chance with Days of Future Past after writing The Last Stand maybe??

I still like this movie, but more on the lines on how i like the 2002 spider-man film, if this film had come out in that period of time it wouldn't have gotten nearly the amount of hate it did, is it a really good movie? No, but id say its passable, and a good honest trailer to go with it.

BRING REYNOLDS BACK!!!! AND SINESTRO!!!!
WellDrawn
WellDrawn - 7/15/2014, 10:13 AM
Movie should have centered around the rise of Hal Jordan and the fall of Sinestro. They had an opportunity to do the ultimate buddy cop movie in space, with Sinestro taking Hal around the Galaxy, breaking him in with on-the-job training, and gradually turning bad. Then return to earth in the last 15 minutes for the finale. Set up Sinestro as the baddie for the sequel.

Plus Ryan Reynolds acting ability is better suited for comedies. Would've made an ok Kyle Rainer, but he does NOT capture the spirit of Hal Jordan.

Movie's almost as bad as Dragonball Evolution... Ugh.

This film isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I'll be honest, I expected more out if it but I enjoyed it for for most part and think the sequel could've been much better if WB gave it a chance.
And Reynolds was a good Hal Jordan and I still think he deserves anothe chance.

It hilarious how they make it seem everyone wanted Guardians of the Galaxy when NO ONE knew who they were until that first trailer of the film.

Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be better than the GL movie and that's such a shame, because in comics GL>GOTG

Long over due.

Theatrical or Directors cut- EITHER WAY

I agree with this honest trailer. If you can imagine anything with the GL ring why make Earth based inventions. I could have easily been able to see Hal make a Mech or a dragon. If they wanted him to make an air plane. Why not have made it a futuristic one instead. You could easily have made it look like a spaceship. Even being inspired by Star Wars ships. But no WB wanted to go with generic ones instead. It's not like it would have cost any more money. Because the computer made the CGI so why not make the constructs cool.

I really hope WB gives another go at making GL. The GLC has so much potential for a great movie. Just make the movie take place mostly in space and make it a team up movie. Just thinking what you could make with the GL ring is huge. I would love to see something like this a T-Rex that shoots lasers out of his eyes. Plus has a jetpack on. His fingers are replaced with chainsaws and his tail has spikes on it. Plus you could make the T-Rex covered in fire and shoot electric bolts out of its mouth. So there is no limit to how crazy you can be with creative ideas for the GL movie. Yet instead the GL film we got was generic and uninspired.

So I really want to see a GL movie that plays to the strength of the GL universe. I would love to see it star Hal, Guy, John & Kyle. If done right it would be WBs new Lord of the Rings film. Because of how many GLs would be fighting in space. Plus it would also be their version of Star Wars too. I'll be honest this would have more potential then a solo Wonder Woman or Flash film if done right. I'm not sure if they would do it but I think going after directors like Peter Jackson, Joseph Kosinski or Carl Rinsh would be great.

Green Lantern coming out at a certain time was nothing to do with the film's quality. Even if the film came out before the MCU, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, and The Dark Knight trilogy it still would have sucked.

It wasn't AS horrible as everyone says.. but given the fact it came out after much better comic book movies, and Campbell having given us an awesome Bond movie.. expectations were incredibly high for this movie.

It didn't help that the media was calling it "the new star wars"

Reynolds did perfectly fine with the material he had. The CGI and story was horrendous though. Esp for that year.

I'd like to Reynolds get a second chance, but I'd much rather him get to do Deadpool instead

@grifdeadpoolteabag The directors cut didn't improve anything it was just 10 more minutes of crappy material.

@CaptainProg - I actually happen to know Ryan and his family personally. Comments like that are so unfounded and just stupid. What makes him an a-hole? Because he did a movie you didn't like?

Give me a break. Actors are just like you and I. Working at a job. Only difference is that there performance is critiqued by millions while ours are critiqued by very few.
