Jack Huston Confirms Auditioning For ‘Star-Lord’ Role In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Despite sustaining a broken rib while filming a scene for his latest film, Not Fade Away actor Jack Huston says he's adept at playing Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy after auditioning.

While a few actors who made Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy ‘Star-Lard’ shortlist are committing to other big projects, seemingly slimming their chances to none, contender and Boardwalk Empire actor Jack Huston recently told MTV News that he's more than capable; even after sustaining a broken rib while filming Not Fade Away. Check out exactly what he said in the video below!

“There was a screen test. Like I said, brittle bones. Maybe they'll call me Glass Man. 'Here he comes. Oh, he fell over,'” Jack Huston joked. But jokes aside, he said, “I would love to do it. I tell you, these bones are strong. If you need a guardian to look after this galaxy, look no further.”

About Jack Huston's fellow ‘Peter Quill’ contenders, Garrett Hundley recently announced his commitment to Tron 3, while Joel Edgerton is filming Felony and just signed on for Jane Got a Gun. And as reported earlier today, Eddie Redmayne has just joined Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending. Of course, these other obligations wouldn't exactly rule them out of winning the role. Anyhow, the list also includes Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace, James Marsden and Sullivan Stapleton. What do you think?

Marvel Studios presents “Guardians of the Galaxy”—the big cinematic event exploring an interstellar super hero team-up, featuring Marvel characters Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot and Rocket Raccoon. While story details are under wraps, the film is rumored to lead with a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants. Directed by James Gunn from a screenplay by James Gunn, “Guardians of the Galaxy” is based on the Marvel comic book series “Guardians of the Galaxy,” first published in 1969 and revived in 2008. While a director and ensemble cast have yet to be announced, “Guardians of the Galaxy” will assemble on August 1, 2014. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will distribute the film. In addition to “Guardians of the Galaxy”, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; and the currently-untitled sequel to “Marvel's The Avengers,” the third highest grossing film of all time, on May 1, 2015.

Meh. I'd like someone else to do it. Not sure who though. Even if it's not my pick (Chris Pine) who ever gets it needs to play a likable jerk well. To me Chris is one of the few actors which can pull that off.

He's so good in Boardwalk Empire - albeit playing a very diff type of character - but I'm sure thsi guy could wrap his acting gear around anything. Hope he gets it.

You guys really need to STFU with the Chris Pine as Star-Lord. Marvel is too frugal to pay his quota and he's already playing an iconic character in Star Trek and is the titular character in the Jack Ryan reboot.

He could play Batman.

Great actor, but can't see him in the role
Batman seems more appropriate especially since he has a knack of dealing with dark material

interesting. He's good in Boardwalk, it will be interesting to see how he dose in a lead role. But Im all for it, it may jump start his career in overdrive. But he should hit the weights a bit.

Hope there is no cross over with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Don't want Tony Stark hanging out with squirrel boy and tree man.

Not familiar with his work. But based on what I saw from this video, I think he can pull off the likeable jerk aspect of Star-Lord.

He would also make a good Dr. Strange.

Thanos is in it, Thanos is in Avengers sequels. So it IS part of the Avengers-verse. Whether or not Iron Man & the gang actually SEE a talking raccoon, its still one big part.
And even if he did see one, isn't that awesome? that's what a shared universe is all about, what makes the MCU so great.
Imagine the look on RDJ's face seeing Rocket talk...he'd think he was drunk/hallucinating. funniest scene ever.

Lol @ the idiots saying "I can't see this as part of the Avengers universe" or "Hope it doesn't cross over with the Avengers". That's what a shared universe is for you tools.
@xcrementus, That would be great
