Actor Nat Wolff Is The First To Be Cast In THE STAND

Director Josh Boone has cast one of his The Fault In Our Stars actors in Warner Bros. ambitious big screen adaptation of Stephen King's classic novel -- but he won't be playing a character from that, as Boone has created a part specifically for him.

We have our first confirmed cast member for WB and CBS Films' adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand: Nat Wolff. Director Josh Boone tells THR that he wrote a part specially for the actor, whom he refers to as his "lucky rabbit's foot" after Wolff appeared in not only The Fault In Our Stars alongside Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, but Boone's 2012 directorial debut Stuck In Love. "He's a wonderful improviser, he's my secret weapon, my lucky rabbit's foot. Two or three of the biggest laughs in my first movie, he improvised. He's gonna be in every movie I make." In a story featuring more than 20 main characters, it's a little odd that Boone is creating another one for Wolff, but then maybe it'll just be a small role. Perhaps we'll begin finding out who'll be portraying the likes of Stu Redman, Nick Andros and Randall Flagg soon now that this cat's been let out of the bag.

Probably Nick Andros, too young for being Redman.

I hope it's good though. They better get this right. It sounds like a bad sign that they cast this weirdo in the movie, and that the first character cast happens to be a new character.

Steven King is one of my favortite authors, and this is definitely one of his best novels, alongside The Shining, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption (Novella), Misery, and (Many may disagree, but...) Under the Dome.

He's rather close to how I imagined Nick looking. Perhaps this guy's script has a few cutaways to the victims of the 'Second Outbreak' (those who survived the plague, but then died anyway)?

Steven King was once very attached to any dealings surrounding this novel in Hollywood, is that still the case?

@Abary I read Under the Dome before The Stand, and even though I prefer the latter, I thought the former was great (for the most part). Reading The Running Man at the moment, and I'm really tempted to see how far Arnie's movie deviates from this story.

You wanted your "lucky rabbit's foot" in the movie so you created an all new character for "The Stand"?

Desrow I remember reading that one a while ago, but I didn't like it as much as some of his others.

JamesMan I'M TYPING FAST lol nothing good happens when I type fats....

AstoundingMan Glad I'm not the only one that thoroughly enjoyed Under The Dome. It is one of his longer novels, and it was worth the read from start to end.

@MrCBM56- It was a show on Nickelodeon is the late 2000's. That's about all I can recall. I had outgrown Nickelodeon by that time, so I barely remember it.

I am just reading the first volume of Dark tower, man talk about a great book!
I imagine Roland now like Clint Eastwood in his prime...
The disadvantage DT has against Potter is that Potter is for kids, they are doing all kinf of franchises based on kids and teens literature (potter, hunger games, awful twilight etc) and Dark tower is definetly not for kids, I am not sure if a franchise like that would survive in a comic book movies franchises world..

Karmatron yeah, unfortunately, that is the cold hard truth. It is a massive risk since they don't know how much people outside of fans will be interested, and since they know if they mess up they are screwed.

@TheAbaryMan yes man, at least we have ahead The Stand to look forward.

I hated with a passion the Stand Tv series they were just awful but as everything Stephen King related I watched it.

Last good thing (as in quality) I saw adapted from King in movies was 1408 I liked it a lot and The Mist (talk about an ignored but great movie)

In series I have not seen yet The Dome, is it good?

Karmatron it's pretty decent I guess, but they changed a lot from the book, like Rusty not appearing in it at all aside from a cameo in episode 1, Angie has a much bigger role in the show, there is a lesbian couple added for no reason at all and they happen to be Norrie's parents, there are way more deaths/injuries, Phil Bushey is a radio host now (which has been changed from christian music to hard rock music) and a few other changes. I'm still looking forward to seeing how season 2 improves, and I know that King is writing the premiere so that should be a nice start.
