The dark beauty of director Alex Proyas, mixed with Brandon Lee's passionate and physical performance, and a soundtrack to boot, makes The Crow a classic that really can't be topped. I'm not against a reboot, not really; but I see no way this movie that's being made to appeal to the CBM Cinematic Universe masses will do anything to top the original.

His character was one of the best parts of Boardwalk Empire. I'm glad to see him get more leading roles

This seems like a dead franchise...besides the small number of cult fans, there's no interest for a Crow film.

Love Jack. Love The Crow. Love Richard Harrow, one of the best things about Boardwalk. Don't love the idea of this reboot. You guys are right; the first Crow is a classic.

There are some things however a lot of people who who never read James O'Barr's comic don't realize about the movie with Brandon Lee: it really wasn't all that much like the comic. In fact the film was very tame in comparison. The book was almost disturbing and unsettling to read. The Crow was truly crazy, utterly mad with grief and consumed by a nihilistic self destruction and violent rage. He did not heal physically when injured and was mainlining morphine throughout the story. The self mutilation aspects of the character were disturbing, cutting and bleeding himself on multiple occasions. The level of violence was far in excess of the movie as well.

I would have no problem if they wanted to make a film that was a true retelling of O'Barr's comic. In truth it would be a disturbing and beautiful movie on a whole different level from the original Crow film. However,everything I have read about this reboot seems to be a watered down version of the first film. I could easily sit that one out. Until I finally see the cinematic version of the final scene where Eric has driven T-Bird, the lead baddie in the book, off the road with his Barracuda and the severely injured T-Bird watches the half destroyed form of Eric walk towards him with a hammer asking, "How many angel's can dance on the head of a pin? It depends on the tune." That last shot of an unafraid T-Bird staring down the hammer in the foreground before fading to black. Good stuff. I want to see that Crow. Sadly from the sound of the reboot that ain't what we're getting.

The story itself makes you hurt. The way Shelly dies is truly awful and not at all whitewashed in the book. She is violated and heartlessly and brutally murdered before being utterly desecrated. Eric sees all of it, but can do nothing to stop it as he lies paralyzed from a head wound that gives him the classic Crow ruptured iris, one brown eye one pale blue and devoid of pigment, a look left out of the film. It was this horror before death that scared him leading him to return. The Crow itself is a spiritual being not a physical bird. It is seen only by Eric and one other before their death.

The story itself was written by O'Barr as a means of coping with the death of his girlfriend, it mirrors some of the aspects of his self destructive period grieving for her. He draws Shelly in the likeness of his girlfriend and many say T-Bird bares the likeness of the drunk driver that killed her. There is a lot of real pain and anger manifested in that story, it comes through in the art and the writing. I read it at 15 and it was a turning point for me. I met O'Barr twice in the 90's and he was this real giant of a guy that had this odd quiet sadness about him. A really striking guy. If you've never read the comic do yourself a favor and pick it up. Great stuff.

@NERO

Yeah, that was one of the instances where the movie made me read the comic and learn all of the back-story behind it. And, to me, that movie held up on its own. It was perfect. This should not be rebooted. I might end being wrong and loving the remake (and, if so, I will admit it, unlike some of our other users) but as of now, this one just makes me nervous.

@NowtheresaBATman

He did well with what he had to work with, not a huge role.

I agree, also wanted him for Dr. Strange!

Was totally against a Crow reboot but if Mr. Harrow is involved sign me right up.

He was one of the best parts of BE. I remember renting The Crow when i was younger and watching it just because he was Bruce Lee's son. Haven't they been trying to make this movie forever? I think they should leave it be. Not to drink the koolaid but I think for whatever reason, something doesn't want this franchise to continue. I could just be feeding into the superstition.

Not happy that they are remaking this but in these days of remakes it is inevitable. They could have gone with any of the other stories from the Crow comic book series. Although Jack Huston is an interesting actor so he should hopefully do well.

@nowtheresaBATman - I thought he did real good in Kill your Darlings. Worked really well with the rest of the cast. Good flick.
