RUMOR: Groovy Description Of Original EVIL DEAD After Credits Scene That Was Deleted

Mild Spoiler Warning! A source for the website, Bloody-Disgusting, has described the originally planned after credits scene for Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead, that was deleted.

An anonymous source for Bloody-Disgusting has a description of an after credits scene that was originally shot that included Ash from Sam Raimi's original Evil Dead films. It was left on the cutting room floor, but don't worry as our own Josh Wilding has informed me that there is an after credits scene that is worth the wait, it just won't be the one you read about below.

“I was told that there was a scene for post-credits where they shot Bruce Campbell in the Ash role but of course he is older (trying to integrate him into this remake’s timeline for future possible cross over),” the reader explained to us. “The surviving member of the group is walking down a road (all covered in blood from the final scene in the movie) and suddenly a truck (with the word “S-Mart” printed on the side of the truck’s container unit) drives up the road and stops by the survivor. Then the window roles down and we see none other than Ash (Ashley Williams…Bruce Campbell)…the hero and survivor from the original Evil Dead trilogy. He asks the survivor if everyting is OK and if any help was needed. Then the Survivor looks at Ash and turns again into a Deadite (gets possessed again)….then we see Ash with the camera zoomed in a close-up on his face as he says: “Groovy!” (one of his famous catchphrases from Evil Dead 2/Army of Darkness…you fans know what I am talking about) and we fade to black… I was so excited and shocked when I heard this little golden nugget by the insider. Then the person goes on to tell me that they shot the whole scene but when Sam Raimi/Bruce Campbell watched it they decided it was out of place (for now).”

“In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”

The Evil Dead will be directed by Fede Alvarez. The film stars Jane Levy (Suburgatory) as Mia; Shiloh Fernandez (Deadgirl, Red Riding Hood) as David; Lou Taylor Pucci (Carriers) as Eric; Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) as Olivia and Elizabeth Blackmore (Legend of the Seeker) as Natalie. The film will be released on April 5, 2013.

Yes, this scene is legit. It was the after credits scene shown at SXSW. Too bad they only showed it to them.

This was started by some fan on IMDb. I don't think this was ever filmed, and if it was, it sounded out of place for the movie. I only want my Evil Dead/Army of Darkness with comedy and then horror.

Users on Blu-ray.com forums are saying that the end credit was changed from

"From the folks who saw it at the world premier,after-credit as cabin, time portal, Ash. TO From the folks who saw it recently/yesterday, after-credit as black screen, Ash, Groovy."

I smell BS. That "deleted scene" isn't in the same tone of what we've seen about this remake. But an Ash cameo would be fantastic anyway!

That sounds awesome. The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 are probably my favorite out of the original trilogy. I can't wait to see the new one!

if it was filmed, they should use it in the trailers...but not in the actual movie.

Hopefully the scene makes it to the final cut, I'm guessing the scene where she's walking down the road is the image on the movie poster...?

Can't wait for the director's cut of this, on DVD. I might just boycottthe whole film until then. All the stuff they cut out of this to make it family friendly and this awesome cherry on top? That'd be worth the wait.

As much as I would have loved to see this. I think it would have felt out of place as well. Especially with the tone they're going for with this film.

They cut it likely because Army of Darkness 2 is being developed to explain Ash's where-abouts during Evil Dead.
