After a lawsuit for "Copyright Infringement," Sam Raimi has recently caused the cancellation of Evil Dead 4: Consequences, an un-authorized sequel to the Evil Dead Trilogy. In preparation for Evil Dead 4, Award Pictures, the company behind the film, had claimed that because of the Sam Raimi original having been released in 1981, the company lacked control over it, allowing it to be used as titles in 20 films. In response, Sam Raimi's company, Renaissance Pictures, filed the lawsuit. Due to high retainer fees, Award was unable to get a lawyer, and was unable to attend court. This reportedly ended a financing deal with Anchor Bay, costing millions of dollars. Evil Dead 4: Consequences is currently dead.
Despite this, The Evil Dead reboot has seemingly not been harmed and is still scheduled for an April 14, 2013 release date.

Welcome, I am Darkknight2149. I am primarily a fan of comic books and their various adaptations, as well as horror and other classic film franchises.
As far as the "DC vs. Marvel" rivalry goes, I'm really not biased when it comes to studios and publishers. Preferences are fine, but I've never understood the basing of opinions purely by the studio/publisher that makes it.
