Like all of Marvel’s cinematic ventures, the upcoming Iron Man 3 ‘international, crisis thriller’ will feature product placement from its many high-profile marketing partners this summer. And during the recent Consumer Electronics Show, TCL, the largest TV manufacturer in China, showcased its partnership with Tony Stark’s apparent “Smart TV choice” in the hotly-anticipated threequel.

“Now that we’ve established ourselves through online sales with leading U.S. retailers like Amazon, Best-Buy and Costco, we’re focused on increasing our in-store presence and kicking off a new global marketing campaign. The partnership with Marvel Studios on Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” is one example of how we'll share our products with U.S. consumers in 2013. Tony Stark’s Smart TV choice in the next installment of Marvel Studios’ blockbuster franchise, the Ultra HD China Star 3D TV™ features active 3D technology, multi-touch, intelligent and dynamic backlight, and an ultra-high brightness of 800 nits.”

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures & DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee & Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film hits May 3, 2013, & is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Why shouldn't Iron Man be the face of Marvel in comics and movie. Who else should it be Spidey? Wolverine? Can't be until they own them 100%.

Iron Man is the face because Marvel need a character they own for comics and film, personally I think Captain America should be the face of Marvel but Robert Downey Jr.s swagger just boasted his notoriety

May 3 HURRY THE [frick] UP

BTW, new footage in 26 days. Like they did with The Avengers during the Super Bowl, we should get a minute-long IM3 trailer after the 30-second spot.

I'm saying that, Spider-Man was the flagship charetcer, there cleary making Iron Man the flagship and title charetcer.

If anyone it should go to Cap.

It was all Iron Man on the Avengers posters...

I hate product placement. It cheapens the overall production of a film, imo.

Cool TV though.

@KaineParker - Spidey film rights is not owned by Disney-Marvel now. Iron Man's stuff is 100% Marvel.

Then there's the acting. Robert Downey Jr Tony Stark is more memorable in a positive way to movie audience than Peter Parker acted by Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield. No wonder people are tweeting Tony Stark a lot compared to other Marvel alter egos. It's all about the movies. Same with Cap. Compare how much money Cap film received and either Iron Man 1 or Iron Man 2 received then you'll see why Marvel is pushing Iron Man.. now.

Cool TV. Hope it gets blown up though so we can have plenty of action destruction in Tony's house.

Tony: Love the new TV! Wow, that missile it looks so real!

Mandarin: That's because it is real.

Not fair, I just got though repairing this house!

:P

That is a bitchin big telly! Ok someone has got to explain the cap worship from comic fans?! I don't get it! Almost everyone I know who saw the Avengers (which is everyone I know) said that they loved it but Cap was too corny, cheesy and/or just lame. I find him incredibly dull and by far the silliest character Marvel has put to screen. I enjoyed him well enough in his own movie as Steve, before the caformation, but I don't get why so many people on here seem to idolize him above the other characters so much. He's a strong guy with a shield and a dorky costume, I don't quite get the appeal. It's because he's looking our for truth, justice, and soccer mom's doesn't cut it for me. Any one wanna give me some insight?

Spidey had his time to shine, Hulk had his time to shine, X-Men had their moment, let Iron Man get some spotlight for a bit. At least Marvel doesn't stay inside the box with 2 characters.
JohnTom88
JohnTom88 - 1/9/2013, 12:00 AM
@Sagemode LOL, so true

@Jollem so what if Iron Man is a current fad... Marvel keeps bringing in new characters on spotlight and 10 years from now it's not gonna be the same 1 or 2 most important characters. Unlike DC, now and in the future ordinary people could name more than 5 Marvel characters because of the spotlight "rotating chair".

Is Ironman more iconic than Spidey hell no. Before 2008 the general public didnt even know who he was. Honestly i don't even think the charachter is that interesting. People love Robert Downey Jr. Spidey is way more interesting and its not even close when we compare there rogues gallery.
SpideyQuad
SpideyQuad - 1/9/2013, 6:27 AM
Right now at the present Ironman is the figurehead. Go figure!
JohnTom88
JohnTom88 - 1/9/2013, 6:51 AM
@Jollem And People could name 12 or more Marvel characters with films, hype and marketing. And growing. 12 and growing > 5. At the end of the day, Marvel still wins people's interest no matter how you despise "film, hype and marketing". It's a business, duh. They can't sell product without actually selling it.

@TheCapedCrusader Stark not interesting? You mean he's not flawed, not godly ideal like most DC chars? Don't like snarky genius? Or you just hate a genius char who actually act like a real world genius (Steve Jobs, Bill Gates)? Stay DC

@Tea yes several of the posters had Tony at the center but I did see promo material with Cap at the center too. RDJ's version of Stark feels different than the one I grew up with in the comics as well but I really like him as Stark.
