IRON MAN 3: Pepper In Armor TV Spot Officially Released

There was a bit of fan backlash over this spot, which does spoil the fact that at one point Pepper suits up. But most of us here on CBM knew that as far back as those LEGO sets were revealed, and really, does knowing that Potts wears an Iron Man suit for a few minutes actually RUIN the movie for you? Anyway, the tv spot has been officially released so take a look..

Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley. The movie is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black, and hits theaters May 3, 2013.

Why spoil something like that? I'd rather be surprised by that in the movie.

What would ruin a woman being a heroin as opposed to a damsel in distress, I like the idea of Pepper in a suit its better than this

I'd prefer if Pepper WASN'T wearing a suit...

too many iron men

I guess that's the point of the movie, what make Tony Stark special? Is it just the suit, or is it something more? Can anyone be iron man?

Anyway, too many suits.

The one and only thing that I didn't want to see in the Iron Man franchise was Pepper wear the armor..But I should have known.

Also, I think it's amazing that people can just step into Iron Man armor and automatically know how to operate it. IM2 Rhodey just hops in and knows how to control it so well that he immediately goes toe-to-toe with Tony. Know Pepper puts it on and right away is able to function well enough to save Tony's life. I always thought it took someone's as smart as Tony to work the suit. Apparently, you don't even need to read the instruction manual..

I'm all for Pepper wearing the suit.

Why do people have a problem with it? Pepper deserves to kick some ass and not be the damsel in distress at least for once.

And the argument of "too many iron men suits" is terrible, because there's tons in the comics and it doesn't stop people from reading. It's like an iPad .. when one person gets one, so do so many others .. (okay, bad analogy)

Anyway, EMBRACE <3

she's not actually getting her own suit like rhodey, she's just borrowing tony's for a small part of the film probably under 5 minutes, dont see the problem, it's not like she's gonna be joining the avengers in a RESCUE suit now is it

I'm going to say it.

You're going to hate me for saying it for some oddball reason.

...

F it.

Give her her own suit.

There.

I said it.

I feel better.

My simple explanation as to why Rhodey and Pepper can almost automatically know how to use the suits is that Jarvis does all the heavy lifting. Rhodey has flight experience so most of the lingo translates easy. Pepper almost drowns wearing the suit her experience might not be as pleasant.

Correction that may be Tony being dragged into the Pacific.

There's an article on IGN that goes through the entire house demolition scene beat by beat. They among other press got to see a sneak peek of the film.

SPOILERS

Here's an excerpt, explaining all and hopefully easing your trepidations;

"As Pepper and Tony argue, Maya glances at a TV and sees news coverage of helicopters ominously approaching Tony’s home - that they are currently standing inside. She yells out to Tony, who looks outside and sees the helicopters coming, just before they open fire. In slow motion, the first missiles hit the home, which is when Tony reaches out his hand, using what looks to be the movie’s version of the Extremis technology from the comics, as he actually summons the Iron Man armor from across the room, sending the various parts flying towards him. Except then Tony moves his hand in a sweep, away from himself, sending the armor towards… Pepper!

And yes, this causes the armor to completely cover Pepper Potts, putting her in inside and in control of Iron Man. Pepper herself looks shocked by all of this, but when a portion of the roof begins to cave in and nearly flattens Tony, Pepper leaps forward, and shields him, with the debris breaking across the armor's back. “I got you,” she says to Tony, who replies, “I got you first.”

Pepper wants to help Tony get out of the rapidly collapsing home, but he insists she get Maya to safety first. Pepper clearly has had no training in the armor and is an amusing mess. Turning on the gauntlet repulsors she accidentally flings herself out of a window at one point. But she manages to get Maya outside and away from the home and Jarvis tells Tony they are safe. Hearing this, Tony puts his hand out again and the armor is pulled off Pepper, back inside the house and onto Tony. Tony tells Jarvis to blow up all of his previous suits of armor, not wanting there to be any chance Mandarin gets them. Jarvis asks if he’s sure and Tony says to do it and one by one each armor blows up, even as more missiles and gunfire batter the house.

At this point, the house completely collapses, falling into the ocean below and Iron Man is dragged underwater, debris trapped around his neck yanking him downward. His armor battered and broken, he’s barely able to get himself free and Tony is barely conscious as he tells Jarvis to get him out of there."

@126thst

Thanks for asking!

My point was that saying the suit is too "special" doesn't make any sense because the movie isn't about the SUIT. It's about the person under it. The characters like Pepper and Tony are the one's we're watching the movie for and they're the ones that deserve the wear the suit.

AGAIN, thanks for your inquiry!

@PsyBoy

That's certainly a viable story to explore. A story that some people will find pretty satisfying.

But some of us will be uncomfortable with all these other characters wearing the Iron Man suit. It's a gut feeling, not a intellectual idea.

Too many Iron Men.

Too Many Spidemen

Too many Batmen

I can live with her having a suit...but seriously...I know I sound like a broken record, but please god don't give Mandarin a damn suit!

And why doesn't Tony give Captain America, Widow, Hawkeye and Nick Fury suits so that they can fight in the Avengers 2?

I mean, if Widow's guns were a threat to the Chi, why wasn't a police man...or the Army?

I see what you're saying, but if they went explored it the right way, it could make for really good character development.

I'm not sure exactly what that way would be, but it would be a good way of exploring their roles to eachother. Tony constantly saves Pepper, but wouldn't it be nice to see how she saves him? Her dawning the suit would contrast well with the way she 'saves' him in other ways.
