Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures & DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee & Dan Mintz are executive producers. "Prologue" is the name of the company, not a description of the clip. They're all end credits concepts.

and here I thought Tony will actually have to return to the deserts back where he was kidnapped and relive some more moments from the first film including the mandarin (which seemed like a terrorist) living in al queda or something.. he would later find out the mandarin did have a role in the first film and he has some sort of tech that grants him some powers..that would have been awesome.

entertained yes.
overwhelmed no.
If its a 1/3 piece of a 3 part puzzle for Avengers 2 then thumbs up... if it truly is stand alone and the interpretation of Mandarin stays as is... disappointment.

If it doesn't include a version where we get a real [frick]ing Mandarin and Tony being actually challenged then I don't give a shit. Biggest misled marketing Marvel, shame on you bastards. If I knew the film would be goofier than the last two combined- I wouldn't have wasted money and time.

This movie was great. It's stupid to shit on a damn good movie just because people are upset with the Mandarin twist.

Damn shame about this movie.

Can someone explain why this IM3 is not as good as IM1 & IM2 and yet grossing more when so many of us die hard comic book fans (like myself) are disappointed??

Guess I'm venting..Just had high hopes for this movie.

@TheBaroness89

even on entertaining level of this movie failed. I would not want to watch this again even if it was cable and I was bored to death on a Sunday afternoon!

I am shocked how people are just excusing all the plot holes and campy jokes. Fanboys just have their blinders on and do not want to admit that their beloved Marvel Studios and Disney messed up on this one!

@ LMB10

It is not just the stupid Mandarin Twist that people have a their undies in a twist about. The movie had many plot holes and worst of all it debunks the first two films with this whole ten rings and the origin of IronMan and why Tony needs the arc reactor!

LOL @Joemomma29, you seem disappointed that there are people who love the movie? why? it was good. I think it was on the same level as Nolan's Batman movies. Both had their share of plot holes, but were still good movies. why u mad bro?

meh I just love cbm's to the point where I'll give each at least one viewing and a pass on translation from book to screen. I used to have high hopes and then my favorite storyline The Dark Phoenix saga was bastardized and reduced to trash... so if I don't set myself up- studios can't let me down.

JoeMomma29 - Your argument is invalid. A vast majority of Marvel fanboys pretty much agreed to an extent that they dropped the ball with IM2. IM3 on the other hand was good fun. Not what people were expecting but still it's a goddamn good movie. Some people truly enjoyed the film and have a different opinion, and appreciation than you. Marvel didn't mess anything up with IM3 in my opinion. There's nothing to admit, sorry. I get this is how YOU (and some others) feel, but that doesn't make it the "objective truth".

I guess I am expecting to much! So bad on me! Anyways I hope one day they can make a movie on the level of Godfather 1 and 2 LOL!

This was not a good movie. Too much humor.

and put Ben Kinsley to shame and as much as I love him as an actor, I truly thought he would have been awesome as the evil villain that everyone hoped for.

Even if there was a twist and Kingsley was not the mandarin, save it for the the end and have a good Asian actor like Daniel Dae Kim or Ken Watanabe or Chow Yun Fat portray himself as the REAL Mandarin.

just don't make Kingsley make a fool of himself in this movie.

Just had high hopes for this , that's all.

looking at that title sequence...
Shane Black should helm a Heroes for Hire film- and I'm being completely honest. He has the 70s style buddy cop strategic comedy placement actioner down pat.
Make it happen Feige.

@Nomis I agree. While some involved in other CBMs let us down, they did so at least trying to make what they thought was a great film.
Iron Man 3 was a result of a studio wanting something (money) for nothing. And in this case they are getting it thanks to the drawing power of Downey.
IM3 was a Hollywood version of the MADOFF scheme.

They built up a movie that never existed. And gave us a mindless mess and like any great scammers, theyre making some huge cash from it. And the only scam isn't the Mandarin HOAX (not a twist). The biggest scam was they purposefully made a cheap terrible film that was not representative of what they know people want. Which is why they made trailers that represented a fictitious film never made.

So congrats to Marvel/Downey/Feige/Black for figuring out a way to rip off your audience and get good reviews and applause for it. IM 3 represents the dream of Corporate America-Maximum profits for cheap products!

And yeah, I know the budget was around 200 mil. But that was probably because of Black's coke budget and Downey's pay.

Great scam Marvel!! Milk the hell out of those fanboys baby!

they did- it was called Batman Begins and The Dark Knight the comic book equivalent of Godfather 1 and 2 :)

@Joemomma29 well, no one even liked Green Lantern, so no complaints there.

It WAS a good iron man movie. Too many ppl crying over the Mandarin. He sucks anyway!!!! I am more prone to cry that they didn’t translate the Extremis story directly. It was such a great story…Tony gets F’ed up then needs to inject himself w/ the serum to survive, but reprogrammed it to make him and the suit even better?! That’s an awesome story. I couldn’t care less about the Mandarin!
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 5/7/2013, 10:17 AM
@ BlackandYellow

That is one my points Tony Stark is IronMan he mans the suit, he battle the big guys! He saves the day etc...

In this movie that was taken away, he can just sit back and let the suits do all work. You want to see Thor bash some guys with his hammer, you want to see Spiderman shoot web, Batman fist fight. It was sad to see Ironman reduce to remote controlled toy!

I know but I put that down I will be called a Nolanite. I agree those two movies are far the best in CBM history putting aside box office. I am glad you and I agree on that point!

I think as more MCU Phase 2 movies come out, ppl will quickly get over the Mandarin and see what a minor and insignificant issue he was. Once we start to see the bigger picture, what antagonist will lead up to the Avengers 2, then we'll see how small the Mandarin issue really was. They have to be building up to something HUGE to top Avengers 1.
