VIDEO GAMES: Marvel And Disney Working On IRON MAN 3

Marvel's The Avengers may have been absent from consoles earlier this year, but word has it that Disney and Marvel are indeed working on an Iron Man 3 video game. Read on for details.

Last August, THQ abandoned plans for a video game based off Marvel's The Avengers, meaning that fans were left without a tie-in to Joss Whedon's hit movie. Disney could have chosen to continue working on the title, but decided not to. Instead, they released the Facebook game, Marvel: Avengers Alliance (which is now their most popular social game with over 10 million players). However, according to a report over at The Los Angeles Times, their sources tell them that Disney's games group are in fact working on an Iron Man 3 console game to tie-in with the film next May. The first two (from SEGA) were met with a very negative reaction from fans and critics, so only time will tell whether or not the House of Mouse are able to succeed where that developer failed. Film tie-ins have become far less popular in recent years, with the expensive production values and rushed production schedule almost always resulting in a flop and sales dropping with each mediocre release.

Thank God they ditched SEGA, i mean Captain America was really nothing better than a 6.5/10, so bye-bye SEGA!

But i really DO think Disney can pull an Iron Man 3 video game of, so i'm pumped!! :-)

Iron Man NEEDS an open world game. Seriously, imagine how sick it would be to fly around or get in a car as Tony Stark with a suitcase armor you can put on at will.

IMO level-based games suck. Doesnt matter how big the environment is, you are always bound to an objective and the level ends once you've completed it.

Im gonna be [frick]ing broke!xD

The first IM movie tie-in video game was average, but IM2 was even worse.

And don't even get me started on Thor(worst SEGA tie-in video game).

The only good game SEGA put out under the Marvel license was CA: Super Soldier. That was such a fun game. I hope IM3 turns out to be a great Iron Man video game.

The worst about IM2 was that it had NO coop. The storyline with Warmachine was CRYING FOR COOP. It made perfect sense to add a coop feature.

That Cap game was amazing. I remember playing it at Comic-Con because I let one of the SEGA guys talk me into it. I was thinking it would be horrible but it was the shit. The day I got off the plane back home I went and bought that joint.

I agree not a sega game. Maybe approach beenox or some new company see what results you get. Beenox is making a movie tie in game for spider-man and im sure they already have 10 million pre orders.

Tie-in games never really work, tbh. Until I see a trailer or screenshot that changes my opinion, I expect nothing more than another mediocre Iron Man game.

i loved the cap game, sure it had its flaws but it was a fn captain America game,it was def a good time. And it was cool that they didn't put the usual 60 dollar price tag on it when it came out. Some of the 3d wasn't to shabby either

Disney should buy either EA, Ubisoft or Activision Blizzard (which is on sale now).

I liked the Thor video game. Sure it wasn't a good tie-in, but it was entertaining. I like it better than Capt. America(Only because I can't beat Arlim Zola as the GIANT robot).

Iron Man was pretty awesome, too.

Iron Man 2 ...

The Incredible Hulk was my favorite movie tie-in ever!!!

And you guys need to stop crying because the games weren't very good tie-ins. I bet that if you could go back again, you'd pick up those games again.

So it's not SEGA? I thought they had rights to all the Avengers?

Pease be good.

Some good movie tie-in games I enjoyed:

Riddick - Butcher Bay AND Dark Athena
Battle for Middle Earth I AND II
Lotr Return Of The King
Captain America: Super Soldier
Wolverine
007 Goldeneye
Watchmen I AND II

They should do something like Dark Void. This game could be better "level-design-wise" but it had a killing game mechanic.

Spiderman 2, xmen origins wolverine, captain America super soldier, transformers revenge of the fallen, spiderman3 were all good movie games in my opinion. And the amazing spiderman game comming in a few weeks is looking Awsome.

I want a completely open-world Iron Man game from Rocksteady. Can you imagine? Spider-man tie-in looks promising. Haven't played Cap game yet. I'll have to try it out now based on some your opinions.

Seriously go and install Dark Void on the Playstation Network or on the Xbox Marketplace. It is the perfect foundation for what an Iron Man game should be.

The first two were unplayable pieces of $hit, so this one's likely to fail simply due to the reputation of the previous efforts.

Time to move on, I think.
