Green Lantern: Beware My Power premiered for lucky fans at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, and that was followed by some thrilling announcements courtesy of irreplaceable film publicist Gary Miereanu (a.k.a. @SuperPRGuy).
While we don't have a tonne of details right now, the titles on the way include Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham, Legion of Super-Heroes, and Justice League: Warworld. It was also mentioned that a sequel to Justice Society: World War II is in the works (news which makes us very happy). We expect the first three to be released in 2023.
This new era of DC Animated Universe storytelling has affectionately been dubbed the "Tomorrowverse" by fans. Kicking off with Superman: Man of Tomorrow, that was followed by the JSA movie and Batman: The Long Halloween. Earlier this year, Jensen Ackles appeared to confirm that he's working on a future Batman project, and we're assuming it's one or all of these.
Remember, that two-part blockbuster ended with the Dark Knight being approached by Green Arrow and The Flash, suggesting Batman was going to join the Justice League.
If we had to hazard a guess, Justice League: Warworld is a reference to Mogul. In the comics, he controls a weaponised satellite dubbed "Warworld" that's the size of a small planet, and he'd definitely make a fitting threat to this iteration of the team (we've also seen a fair bit of Darkseif at this point).
Talking to us about the release of Green Lantern: Beware My Power, Executive Producer Butch Lukic hinted at big plans for the new Justice League.
"We’ve not necessarily gone into this movie with the plan to set up another story as we’re really setting up these characters. That’s why Green Arrow, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl are the main characters here so we can get the Justice League together at some point," he revealed. "The team exists, but John wasn’t part of the team yet, so we’re really building on the Justice League coming together again."
Stay tuned for updates as more will likely be revealed soon!
