Early Word On Jeff Wadlow's KICK-ASS 2 Screenplay Is VERY Positive

Our friends over at Latino Review have managed to get their hands on Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass 2 screenplay and while there are a few alterations from the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. comic book series, it sounds as if it still stays very true to the source material. Read on for details!

Filming of Kick-Ass 2 is now well underway, and while the titbits we've seen and heard from the set have all been met with a positive reaction from fans, some are still unsure about whether Jeff Wadlow's vision for the sequel will match that of Matthew Vaughn's 2010 movie. Well, if Latino Review's "Da7e" analysis is anything to go by, then it seems the follow-up is in very capable hands! Despite the removal of some of the violent content featured in Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s comic book series' - both Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass 2 - the writer and director has stayed true to the tone of the comics while also altering a few core elements to make its translation to the big screen all the more effective.



Perhaps most interesting is the decision to remove the final battle sequence in 'Times Square', although it certainly doesn't sound as if this negatively impacts the story in any way (however, the budget more than likely played a role in this decision too). I hope this one lives up to the first! I remember not looking forward to seeing kick ass at all but my friends talked me into it.. completely surprised me

As long as Jeff Wadlow stays true to the Kick Ass comics, it should do well at the box office.

They removed the Time Square battle? Thats the best part. I'm starting to lose faith in this movie. If they make Hitgirl the main focus of the movie, I'm done.

It's great that they've left out some of Millar's retardedness in the film. I didn't care much for the first Kick-Ass (though the comic was okay), but this sequel seems to be shaping up nicely.

it sucks that they removed the times square fight, that was the thing i was most looking forward to. regardless, this shall be a very sick movie!

Kick-Ass is one of the few franchises I believe benefits from straying from the source material.

It made Big Daddy and Red MIst actually relatable.
It gave us a coller villain in Frank D'Amico.
And, while it's slightly unrealistic, I liked the happy ending of the last flick.

While the Times Square fight may be gone, if this means Red Mist actually gets some character development, and it avoids some of the cringe-worthy parts, I'll live with it.

The first Kick Ass movie surprised me with how GOOD it was. I hope this sequel can live up to that standard.

Repulse93: I agree- this is one time that straying from the source material made for a better film. Toning down some of the book's more excessive elements was necessary to make many of the characters more likable and relatable, and also got to the essence of what made Kick Ass such an interesting concept: what would happen if a real comic geek decided to try becoming a costumed vigilante in the real world?

Wait... They removed the times square fight? What the **** happened to this film? The time square fight is essential to the plot of the film. Its the part where you realise this is not all fun and games and dress up, people die, lots of people. It shows villains as not being cool and just being wimpy people with guns and swords. It shows Red mist/Mother ****er running away from a fight because he is just a kid.


Out of everything they are changing they need to keep this all the same;

1 - Times square fight scene and ending
Extending the ending might help, especially the mother russia and hitgirl fight and the Mother ****er and Kick-ass fight. Personally i want us to see more of the background action even in passing i want to see just a superhero and supervillain just punching each other or getting one another in headlocks - after all they are just kids/adults in masks and stuff
2 - Funeral scene
Even if they change the way Kick-ass's father dies they still need the explosive funeral scene. This shows how dark and messed up Red mist/Mother ****er truly is - resorting to lying and even attacking Kick-ass when he is at his weakest
3. DONT MAKE THIS ABOUT HIT GIRL!
A lot of the stuff i have read talks about Hit Girl embarrising people at school or Hit Girl's relationships with Kick-ass. We dont need that. Hit Girl is genuinely strong in the comic throught Kick-ass 2.
