On October 19th, Abrams Books will release The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a must-have collection that's the first and only authorized book to offer fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the MCU, as told by the studio's creatives and the cast and crew of The Infinity Saga.

Delving into the history of this shared world, the book features insight from the producers, writers, directors, concept artists, VFX artists, cast, and crew who helped make the MCU a reality, with co-authors Tara Bennett and Paul Terry charting the complete production history of every movie from Iron Man right up to Spider-Man: Far From Home

Featuring previously unpublished behind-the-scenes photography and archival production material, as well as personal photos and memorabilia from cast and crew, The Story of Marvel Studios is presented as a deluxe, two-volume foil-stamped cloth hardcover set and clocks in at 512 pages.

As well as a metallized reinforced slipcase with exclusive wrap-around MCU concept art montage by Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding, we'll be getting a foreword from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and an afterword from Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr.

I love these sorts of books but is it wrong of me to also want something a little bit more 'unofficial' to get to some of the stranger decisions, regrets and retcons that have happened?

I know these books are a celebration but, for me, I want something a bit more grubby and critical.

@Orphix - would be interesting to have a book detailing some of their less fortunate moments (Terrance Howard being replaced, Ike Perlmutter in general, 'female villains don't sell toys' etc.).

I'd read that

It's still amazing to me how Feige turned a bunch of C-Listers they didn't sell off into the hottest property around the globe.
By all accounts the MCU shouldn't have worked but there was enough dedication, foresight and knowledge of the source material involved that made this explode from mid budget super hero fare into a series now rivaling the likes of Star Wars.

Hate or love the MCU but gotta give props where they're due

@Blergh - I am also still surprised. I remember when Iron Man was announced and I thought, "well, they sold off all their top-shelf properties, this isn't going to go well, but whatever." And walking out of that movie, all I thought was, "whoever produced, scripted and directed the film clearly read Tales of Suspense #39."

This book is a long time coming. I ordered it off Amazon in October 2018. It was originally supposed to be released in 2019 after Endgame. Glad to see it finally has a release date.

@Reeds2Much -
Phase 1: origin stories, basic in formula but rich in character developement
Phase 2: experimental, throw as many twists and surprises at the viewer as possible
Phase 3: team-ups and world building
Phase 4: ? (hopefully reinventive)
