Well I’m not sure where this should go but because the rest of the 100 Days series is in the reviews, I think that’s a good place for it.
Those who have been following my 100 Days of Superheroes will know what this is all about. I’m currently reviewing and ranking 100 superhero films over the course of a year, building up to the release of Amazing Spider-Man, Dark Knight Rises, Avengers, and Man of Steel.
Here is how it works. The ranking is determined by two factors the average audience ranking combined with my own score for the film. These rankings will be posted every ten reviews so be sure to vote. As more votes and movies are added to the ranking, films will slide up and down on the scale.
Got all of that? Good. Then with no further delay lets get this started.
THE TOP TEN COUNTDOWN!!!-
Seeing as there are only ten films right now, this might be better called The Only Ten.
# 10: Superman 3-
Coming in dead last was the underwhelming Superman 3 which put a quick brake on the Superman film franchise. Some would say that 30 years later it has yet to recover. It was almost universally hated with an average reader score of 39%. With horrible direction and a brainless plot, it is a worthy contender for the bottom spot.
Ranked At: 29.5%

#9: Super Fuzz-
Recognized largely for its corny nature and poor special effects, all Super Fuzz had going for it were repeat viewings. Coming in with a reader score of 44.4%, some might have viewed it with a sense of nostalgia (or intoxication), but without that, this film is worth the pass.
Ranked At: 37.2%
#8: Superman and the Mole Men-
Because the voting polls were only added after this film came out, there was really nothing for me to go on besides my own score (this is me telling you to do vote!). In the end though Superman and the Mole Men wins third to last place with a lackluster story, campy effects, and a television worthy quality.
Ranked At: 40%
#7: Batman (1966)-
Here was a film that was all across the board on audience reaction. This is not surprising as many people out there can appreciate the campy nature or enjoy the sheer over the top corniness to it. Readers rated it at 56.7%. The 1966 Batman just may be one of those films you’ve got to love or hate.
Ranked At: 43.3%
#6: Condorman-
Disney wasn’t doing too hot with their superhero films before buying Marvel. Their first run with Condorman, which fuses spy and superhero elements (similar to Diabolik), had some rough patches but isn’t as bad as it is always made out to be. Coming in at a 62.2% reader rating average it looked closer to the positive side of things. Yet it still suffered from flat characters and poor plot at times, dragging it down.
Ranked At: 51.1%
#5: Hero At Large-
Though I thoroughly enjoyed it, the few other who saw it wen’t quite as fond as I was of it. Coming in with only a small 35%. John Ritter stars in the comedy which tries, like many would later, to depict a “real life superhero”. It’s stars are likable but the action is minimal.
Ranked At: 52.3%
#4: Danger Diabolik-
Hardily rated due to its obscure nature. Those few who saw it seemed torn on whether it was a good movie or not, sitting at a 57.5% average, bringing it close to my initial score in the review. It suffers from being dated and unknown, but still is a faced pace and often times fun spy-hero hybrid.
Ranked At: 53. 75%
#3: Swamp Thing-
Near horrific effects can’t stop this film from being one of the best superhero films of the first 20-30 of the subgenre. Readers voted it up to 65.5% With a great story, a strong cast, and heart, Swamp Thing raises above its lackluster visuals to be a film well worth the watch.
Ranked At: 62.7%
#2: Superman 2-
This first sequel manages to take second place following the successful first film. Readers found it too be a worthy follow up even if it did not exceed the original. Voting it in at 76%. Though it lacked more in story and emotion it raised the game in action with Superman fighting not three, but four villains. A feat even filmmakers today would be weary to take on.
Ranked At: 68.1%
#1: Superman:The Movie-
Taking the top spot with ease is Richard Donner’s long critically acclaimed Superman: The Movie. Voted up with an overwhelming 92%, far beyond any of the others, this will be one to beat. Though it still contains some camp, it also brings in a story of epic scale and real emotions. That makes Superman the #1 Superhero film so far.
