Yeah I remember. I watched a few episodes of the cartoon. Probably read the same amount of issues. This was back when Image thought they could rule the world. Sam Keith is a mind blowing artist.

I have his first appearence, Darker Image # 1, but that went to shit, and they never made another one. Also, it shows the great creative talent that Rob Liefeld was, with Bloodwolf, an almost carbon copy of Lobo.

I must have been living under a Box I didn't realize they was a cartoon made. I only remember the Comic. PITT is another one that came around the same time.
I now I do remember Aeon Flux showing on MTV, I even have the whole Anime collection of it.

I had Comics, watched the show, and had action figures. The Maxx rules! Hell, I bet if I search my junk-comic boxes, there will be a few issues of this book and the Pitt. I like the artwork alot in those days and I remember Spawn was pretty new and in demand at the time. Maxx and Pitt had that same level of bloody brutality . Maxx was mentally ill though if I remember correctly, which made him a whole lot of fun.

I loved the Maxx series. The stories were so visceral and fragmented. The thing that I loved the most was, like a lot of these kinds of stories, you never know if everything is just in the hero's head, or if there is some semblence of reality amidst the insanity. And Sam has an amazingly original style. Great read.

I loved the Maxx! I was recently re-reading the comics that I had. I tried to collect 'em all but for some reason I had a hard time finding issues after around 13 through, like, 27 or something. Weird. I had the series on tape too. Unfortunately I lent it to somebody and never got it back. Boo.

Lastson, i'm in the same boat as you!!! I have it all on tape now i want it on DVD!!! I heard a while back that they never did put it on DVD... Hopefully, if splashpage gets enough clicks, it could motivate them to put it back out on the market and this time maybe even DVD AND BlueRay :))

And you know what made me remember the series??? I remember loving the dark flash animation kinda style it had and playing InFamous on PS3, they're own cut scene style of animation is VERY similar to the series!!! This game is a must buy!!!

Myth & Spock- I was one of PITT's biggest fans, had the t-shirts and posters but didn't care to collect the "legendary heroes" figurines to build up PITT. I wished to GOD, they made a PITT TV series as cool as TheMaxx but Keown had trouble submitting a comic per year almost. The guy just put too much detail in his work, he is by far the best artist in the "detailed" category. He's better off doing pin-ups like Joe Mad.

I loved this show. My favorite episode was when the Maxx had to fight a villain that was part shark and part man underwater. He was a beast.

YES, this was an awesome show/comic. a dvd release is definitely needed. they just need to bring back all the old liquid television stuff. that was a wild show

I love Maxx! The series was great. I had the comic books too whit flying whales (awsesome concept). And like you said shaman teh animation kinda look like from flash

His voice was kool too. I think Maxx's voice was from Randy Macho Man savage or sounded like him

A movie would be awesome
Shaman

@ Shaman cool, but I think Pitt also made an apperance in WildCats, I love that series as well.
TheMyth
TheMyth - 6/30/2009, 11:08 AM
Shaman, I was going through an old box of junk-books the other day and found 3 early issues of Pitt, the earliest being #8. I also liked Savage Dragon too, the way they discarded human lives in those books was so alien to me at the time. These were among my first excursions from Marvel U, but the Maxx was the door to the rest.

It was aired at the same time as Aeon Flux folks.

the comics were awesome.

dizzle716 - 6/30/2009, 11:32 AM
Wasn't it originally aired as part of MTV's variety (and weird) show Liquid Television? I know that's when Aeon Flux first appeared. Remember it also had the cartoon "The HEAD"? Lotsa messed up stuff on that show.

Side note: I wish everyone that typed "first" would get a nice jolt of electricity from their keyboard. That is the dumbest thing ever.

correct dizzle i tried to start a new movement a few weeks back to get everyone to stop it but some people still think its cool. and i believe it was on liquid television, though i could be wrong

Loved the MAXX

even bought a crappy burned DVD of all 13 eps on ebay several years ago. Would really like to see a legit copy come out. Massive heady acid trip stuff happening. Was he a savage jungle warrior? Or a mentally ill plumber with a crush on his social worker? beats the shit outta me. But goddamn was it fun to watch!
Shaman
Shaman - 6/30/2009, 11:52 AM
"The Head" was [frick]ed up!!! Loved Aeon Flux though, own the whole series and shorts on tape.

Myth- Nice :) I also fell in love with Savage Dragon but i didn't collect the title since i missed out on a lot of it. And i felt Larsen's art began to lack majorly later on. I could go back to buy the TPBs but... moolah's not of the essence. Didn't they actually put out a Savage Dragon TV series also??? I think i saw a few episodes but it wasn't as brutal as the comics. Still pretty damn good though.

Yeah billy, the hole point behind it was to figure out which personality was the real one. I think it ended with him actually being the jungle half and living hapily ever after with Julie(not sure of the name) which was only a little girl in the jungle realm as opposed to the social worker in the city realm.

SaI just re-watched this show... weird. Some of it is a little cheesy, but for the most part it holds up. Great art, great story, pretty much all you can ask for in comic book or animated what-have-you.
