There's a lot of questions on the minds of cbm'ers this year. What comic book movie announcements will be made? What new major comic story events will there be this year? What new comic video games will come out? I'm sure theirs plenty more questions you and I could both think of but why bother. This article is about the number one question in the minds of comic readers this year. Can the former glory of... wait for it... S U P E R M A N! topple the new king of comics, playboy, billionaire, philanthropist... The INVINCABLE IRON MAN!
IRON MAN 3
Hype train is in overdrive. Quite possibly and arguably the biggest entertainment franchise in Hollywood today is the MCU. Deal wit it. Whose front and center in the whole shabang? Yep, IRON MAN. The general audience loves Robert Downy Jr. Common DC defense force argument: Avengers was just a novelty that has already passed. NO hype their. Is this true?
Avengers! Nuff said. But... I figure I'll talk anyway. Theirs some who say that Avengers does not matter. Really?! There may be an argument here but I just have a hard time believing the Avengers uber success would not only effect IRON MAN but all Marvel phase two movies. How much do you think the success of the Avengers will effect phase two movies?
Huge amount of content. It could just be strictly wishful thinking on my part, but I am pretty sure this is the most amount of content and shear scale ever seen in a superhero film probably besides the Avengers. DC defense force argument: Too much is always a bad thing. Is this true?
Man of Steel
When you think of superheroes if Superman is not one of the first that comes to mind you might be a member of the First Marvelite church of screw DC. Superman is basically bringing boss status to the big screen this summer. "Grand daddy of all superheroes" is a title only designated to few heroes. And here is the only time I've ever heard it used. Marvelite church teaching: Though Superman used to be the boss his popularity has died over the years and can be seen as outdated or camp. So is the Man of steel still relevant?
Word of mouth. BEAST! I can't see Zack and Nolan putting out anything less than awesome. The future of all things DC pretty much ride on the success of this movie. WILL NOT BE A BAD MOVIE. May not be the greatest film, but I repeat, WILL NOT BE A BAD MOVIE. DC simply can't afford a bad movie. First Marvelite church of screw DC teaching: DC can't make a good movie to save their lives. Just look at the track record. Will MOS be another Dark Knight or a Green Lantern?
In the minds of some Marvel vs DC bragging rights can almost be decided through the outcome of these two films. Is Superman the last chance to regain DC's former dominance? Can Marvels new king of comics stand his ground against the "Grand daddy of all heroes". Place your bets. In about three months bragging rights will be handed like a sword to a knight.
Here... we...go.
