Jon Favreau Hired To Direct Magic Kingdom For Disney After Iron Man 3?

Iron Man director Jon Favreau is in talks to helm Disney's Ron Moore-scripted fantasy flick that will see the studio's famed theme park come to life...

Deadline report that Jon Favreau, who directed the first two Iron Man movies and will helm the third installment for Disney for a May 13, 2013 release, will apparently helm Magic Kingdom as soon as work on that wraps.

Disney is said to be looking for a big screen film franchise that can turn Disneyland into the setting for a family feature, much like they did with theme park rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion.

No specific plot details have been released and Disney said that it will take its time developing the film and although Ronald Moore (Battlestar Galactica) wrote a screenplay, based on his own pitch, they will apparently look for a new writer to rewrite it from an idea that Favreau will come up with.

Magic Kingdom is being produced by Strike Entertainment partners Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, and while the studio has previously tapped theme park attractions for films like Pirates of the Caribbean, this is the first time it has created a movie featuring the entire park.

SuspenseSmith - it will be an epic tale of waiting in line for 2hrs just to meet The Little Mermaid. Filmed in real time and not just in 3D but 4D! Yes, along with the visual FX we have come to expect from these movies, for the the first time we will literally feel the same boredom the actors feel!

Sounds fun!

@ Suspense Smith

I'd like to see a Kingdom Hearts movie done like Final Fantasy: Advent Children. But it wouldn't work live action

That was totally wrong from Deadline's actual article.

A) He's only in negotiations for a development deal, meaning if the deal goes through, he may only shepard the project creatively.

B) He IS NOT signed on for Iron Man 3 yet, just "expected to direct" it.

C) Nowhere did they say which film would come first.

Since Iron Man 3 doesn't come out until 2013, Favreau could very well start directing Magic Kingdom in late 2011 before segueing into filming Iron Man 3 in 2nd or 3rd quarter 2012.

Assuming he actually directs either film, that is.

Ron Moore, same guy who killed Star Trek: The Next Generation before murdering Battlestar Galactica. IT WILL SUCK and be a career ender for Favreau.

im going to disneyland this saturday, given the fact i go there at least once or twice a month i think with enough creativity someone could make a movie about the park coming to life. i jus wonder how they would handle the Indiana Jones piece of the park cause thats not Disney.

Disneyland is a great place to hang out an meet chicks too. i go so much cuz i got two cousins that have worked there for the last 15 years. i get in with them.
