With New Moon smashing records(It didn't beat TDK's opening weekend though thank God!) I thought this funny vid from this years Comic-Con where the first New Moon footage aired of Kevin Smith doing his usual stand up shtick would be fun to post.

It sounds like he's sticking up for them, in a very humorous and backhanded way. I think is daughter is a big fan so I don't think he'd be quick to really lay into a Taintlight fans since his own flesh and blood is counted among them.

Still, Kevin Smith is hilarious.

Well i saw the first film and it was complete shit. I'll be dragged to see New Moon this week and i WILL write a "gloves off" review of it. BUT there WAS one thing that came out good about Twilight, and that was Ashley Greene. Click on her tit and login to Deviant Art to check out my "uncensored" sketch ;)

I don't have a problem with twilight and i'm a guy. They even said 80% of the people who went to see twilight was females 21 and under. But i read this and that's when I had to draw the line.

lmao awesome.

Funny stuff but still I would rather the next gen of fanboyz and girls be reading comics and great old school science fiction than this tripe.
Smith's premise only pans out if they move on to better thngs eventually.

I will give you an example. My wife's niece recently told us that she "hated reading LOTR".
She said she couldn't get into it because it was TOO HARD!!! and that "....I can't stand that stuff. The only books I like are Harry Potter and Twilight". Her exact words.

Now that is terrible. Harry Potter better than Tolkien??? LOTR TOO HARD? Ridiculous! This is what we are coming to, and it's eating the future, not creating it.
To me, reading Twilight does not mean your in the geek club.

OMG teabag that pic cracked me the hell up!
Oh yeah...everybody involved in the atrocity known as "the new moon saga" needs to be wiped off the face of the earth! I will personally take the first shot!

can it truly be called a "vampire" movie if 80% of the audience are females under 21?

idk whats the big deal with this beating tdk and ppl like this book i like the book is a good book i can lie about that it has a great story.

DarthMulder- i never liked lotr i rather read any other book than that

corn- actually they do have fangs have you watch the movie
Phinehas
Phinehas - 11/23/2009, 6:24 PM
Darth Mulder, how old is your neice? Maybe she's not at that reading level yet. If she's over 16, I then would have to agree with you that that's a serious problem.
StephenStrange
StephenStrange - 11/23/2009, 9:49 PM
@ flames: you HERETIC! forty lashes with a wet noodle for you!
Seriously that sucks. How can anyone not like LOTR, especially Return of The King. Maybe you should try reading "David Copperfield" or "Crime And Punishemnt" and then you will LONG for something as vibrantly imaginative and fun as LOTR.

@ Phineas: It's my wife's niece. I am pretty sure she's at least 22. Maybe she's just the kind of person that dislikes reading in general, so she sticks to the easy cheesy stuff. Either way, hearing someone say that Harry pooter is better than Tolkien just made my stomach turn. However, unfortunately that is a very common attitude these days I find.

Anyway, you don't have to read fantasy or sci fi to be a geek of course. But that's just the way a lot of us old schoolers got into it.
No one ever listens, but I am always trying to tell people how reading imaginative literature like Heinlein, Lovecraft, Herbert, Asimov,Bradbury, Wells, Arthur Clark and others enriched my mind and my life.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 11/23/2009, 10:10 PM
No, Darthmulder, you're right. It seems to progessively worsen with each successeive generation. Kids have to have it demonstrated by those around them that reading is good and beneficial. They're not getting it. I was at Downtown Disney today and some couple were too preoccupied with the surrounding to see that their toddler-aged child was wandering off in the other direction. People are becoming increasingly narcissistic. What can you do, ya know?
Swapp
Swapp - 11/24/2009, 1:26 AM
Now, yes- True blood young girl, and other vampire shows- but the young girls are in their 20´s - the Belle chick is like 17 in the first inthaaaalment. Have you been around teens lately? If your are over 25, there is no way- no matter how mature for her age you would want to hang out, fall in love and get all, I´m gonna kill myself over this chick... The edward dude is like 117 - how can he fall for a 17 year old? that shit is no good, it´s creepy. I saw the film on a date- and I was like, oh - yea they sparkle so they can´t go in the light, great....they sparkle? is it explained in the books? or is it not important to the tweens? it seems like a thing that would be inportant.

The Belle chick should go- wtf? why do you sparkle ey? that seems pretty gay? like why? it´s like why?

-Is it good the tweens now like vampires? don´t know...
Shaman
Shaman - 11/24/2009, 8:10 AM
PhillyHulk- Actually, they were the infamous naked pictures of Ashley Greene that were released on the web which made a big fuss. I think you can still find them if you google "Naked Ashley Greene" or something ;)

flames809- I watched the film, in fact i have the therapy bills to proove it, and there wasn't a fang anywhere near the movie.
flames809
flames809 - 11/24/2009, 3:47 PM

MarVell- i just dnt like lotr
Shaman
Shaman - 11/25/2009, 7:11 AM
I shouldn't have to look close. They should be pretty obvious which they weren't. Natural canines AREN'T fangs.
