Movies I'd Like To See In The MCU

I list some of the movies I'd like to see sometime in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Rights be damned; I'm dreaming here.

As you might be able to tell from my username, I'm a pretty big Marvel fan. Sure, I can respect and appreciate the DC comics and movies; but I'm honestly not as knowledgeable on their players as I am with Marvel.

The following, is a list of movies I'd like to one day see make their way to the big screen. This is in no particular order, nor am I fan-casting, nor do I give a shit about rights. This is just what I'd like to see in one way, shape, or form.

Planet Hulk

Rumor came out a few months back that Marvel was considering Planet Hulk, and it's successor World War Hulk (more on that later) as a part of their Marvel Cinematic Universe. While this was a rumor, and MArvel downplayed it; I don't see why. Planet Hulk takes a character we all know and love and basically gives him a new purpose; and *SPOILERS* has it all taken away. For the longest time, the story did what I wanted to see done with the Hulk; and that's to take away the constant sympathy card they play with The Hulk, and make him a warrior, a lead character. Stop doing Emo Hulk, and give us a Hulk that wants to smash!

I imagine Planet Hulk playing very similar to the movie Gladiator with epic fights in the arena; but with the Hulk slowly accepting the role of a hero to the people of Sakaar.

World War Hulk

Part of the reason why Planet Hulk and World War Hulk work so well together is that Planet Hulk gives the Hulk motive to return to Earth and basically punish the 'Heroes' that sent him off into space. It's age old saying of the 'Sins of our Fathers'. The Illuminati try to get rid of Hulk, but he comes back with a fighting spirit.

If Planet Hulk turns the Hulk into a fearsome warrior, World War Hulk turns the green goliaith into an unstoppable force of revenge. He stops at nothing to get back at those who wronged him. We get hints of this in The Avengers, this idea that Banner feels wronged and used by people. It's a near perfrct set up for Planet Hulk, and World War Hulk.

Old Man Logan

I like Wolverine, but he has some great stories that need adapting. Of all his stories, I like Old Man Logan the most. It's a western, but it has heroes. It has a great twist; and it has a great relationship between Hawkeye and Wolverine. I liked the book as the book, but upon reading one users fan cast I was sold.

I think the reason Old Man Logan works so well is like a lot of other Wolverine stories, it uses his past as a tool. In this case; it gives Wolverine reasons to avoid killing, and death in general. It's only when you realize why the claw-happy is refraining from killing that it all makes sense. It's everything this story offers that makes me think it would make a great movie in the MCU, or even at Fox for that matter.

Born Again

While I think almost all of us know of Matt Murdoch's origins, it's Born Again that to me is the true origin of the character. Matt is homeless, paranoid, and driven nearly insane. It's only until he's pushed to his breaking point that he bounces back.

Born Again is a case point in giving the hero something to recover from and fight back. It's a story that sees Murdoch at his lowest, but before I start spewing lines from The Dark Knight, let's just all agree that in a perfect world you'd treat these characters with the care and respect they deserve. I think if you're going to do live-action Daredevil, you have to do Born Again. Otherwise, it's a disgrace to the character and what he means to so many readers.

The Thanos Imperative

I just think Thanos is freaking awesome. He's a bit of an idiot though in that his own worst enemy is himself. The Thanos Imperative is all about epic space action, but it's also about taking this fight to the Cancerverse, an alternate dimension where death no longer exists. So the Guardians of the Galaxy travel with Thanos (reluctantly I might add) to bring death back to the universe. The book is full of surprises, and I think it'd make for a great sci-fi blockbuster.

The Immortal Iron Fist

If you had no clue who Iron Fist was, this book would've convinced you that Iron Fist is an A-lister at Marvel. I don't want to get into the story in too much detail as honestly it's a bit convoluted but I remember finishing it thinking how great of a kung-fu movie it'd make.

Secret Wars

Secret Wars is a simple premise that on 'Battleworld' many of the Marvel heroes and villains have to fight each other. This is the stuff nerds dream of. Nuff Said'

Civil War

I think many of us, myself included, believe that Civil War will happen one day. That said, it's tough to imagine it happening right now. I would like to see it though. It's a great story that basically drives a stake down the middle of the Marvel universe. I think that if Marvel wanted to, Civil War could be a great epic story for them to make major money off of.

The Infinity Gauntlet

As much as I like The Thanos Imperative, The Infinity Gauntlet is just so much more...important. It's that seemingly unending battle, the one you expect to lose. It's an all out brawl with lives at stake. It's why those event comics (hypothetically) do well is because you want to see the heroes win against these seemingly impossible odds.

This book has some gret moments. Cap standing up to Thanos is a personal highlight. It's just so futile, but when would any Marvel hero just give up? That's what makes it so great, is despite their losses, the heroes march forward.

I really do love the "Old man Logan" story line. That would be a real treat to see in theaters. But I wouldn't watch it if it didn't have Hawkeye, Kingpin, or Hulk and his children.

JokerFan I say at the outset I don't give a shit about rights. If I want to see it happen, I want to see it happen. You should read the articles like NightAvenger said before you fire your mouth off.

Born Again....
I love it so much I made a Martian Manhunter fan-fic pic from the trade cover.

You'd need a lot to lead up to it, though. The problem with the 2003 movie (apart from the obvious CGI and everything surrounding Elektra) was the dark and dismal tone, which is actually everything Born Again is all about. But it isn't the quintessential Daredevil story - it's just one of Matt's WORST experiences. You'd need to develop some relationships before moving into that territory.

Most of these would never work with general audiences, so they'll never happen. Especially Secret Wars, that sounds about as dumb as Aliens vs. Predators. I might be able to see Civil War happening someday, if they set it up right.

World War Hulk and Civil War are terrible. It would be best to steer clear of those.

I don't think we'll see Planet Hulk due to the bomb that was John Carter and a stronger focus on Mark Ruffalo, but when his contract runs out it would be an interesting choice.

I think Civil War would be difficult to be pulled off, but I would love to see it unfold on the big screen

Oi vey. John Carter bombed because of the way it was marketed to audiences. People who had never read up on him had NO IDEA what the movie was about, and the trailers didn't explain ANYTHING. Nothing to do with the setting. That's like saying that if the Wolverine had bombed, it would have been because the character was in Japan.

Movies bomb all the time, doesn't stop Hollywood from making new movies, or similar ones.
