Non-CBM Site Contributions

First and foremost I must address this, I love this site and have contributed with my editorials, my best so far is the Marvel Animated movie. With that being said I must bring up a tiny thing that's been bugging me recently, and that's articles that don't pertain to comic and comic book movies.

In the reviews section I saw a lot of AVATAR reviews, I saw District 9, Paranormal Activity, and so forth of movies that aren't "comic book" related. Now granted I know news may be slow on some things that interest us with our heroes but there are those that aren't comic book related and those that I named are good examples. I love this site because you guys here find the latest news and video's faster than SuperHeroHype.com and I go on joblo.com as well and they bring me the same kinda news with certain articles. So hopefully in the coming year we see less noncomic related items. consider 2010 and onward is gonna be full of comic news were gonna be running into overtime. BlackAirs out

It wont happen sorry, if it appeals to the overall visitors of this site it will be posted. This horse is dead my friend and has been brought up on many occasions. Think of it this way, if you go to a comic-con do you not see non comic related material? Video games, B rated horror flicks, or even random Sci-Fi? Think of this site as that, a comic book convention that gives the readers what they want. If you don't want to read about it, skip that particular article, problem solved.

That's a good way of putting it stumblin, a digital comic book convention...pretty much a safe haven for nerds of all types and sizes.

Personally I think it's moot though, I mean if you see an article on here that isn't comic related what's the point of pointing out that you don't think it belongs. If it's here than it exists at the will of Galactus, and who are we to argue with that?

@stumblin, I know Comic-con shows more than comics but the cons have sold out now and they are nothing more than promotional tools used by movie companies to sell their product. Granted thats what a convention is but when the cinema takes over the comics it shows that the main fan base is being over shadowed.

Stumblin - 12/28/2009, 2:36 PM
Not true BlackAirs, they haven't exactly sold out, how else do they pay for all the great sneak peaks they get from likes of Spider-Man? They have to pay for those things, and to do that they need to put a spot up. I've never been to the big conventions but I have been to smaller ones, and they hardly have sold out as you say. It gives me a little bit of everything, Sci-Fi, horror, video games, crappy B-Level movies, comic books, and gave me the chance to meet Mike Mignola and Jim Lee.

I can only say, suck it up because it's not changing.

If you look the left of your article, you will see some tabs with names like: CBM Horror, CBM Sci-Fi and Anime & Manga. While the site is primarily for Comic Book Movies, many of the contributers to the site are also big fans of these other genres. Not to mention, many of the "non-related" topics have actually been comic books at one time or another.

If you don't want to read articles about sci-fi or horror films...don't click on them. Simple as that.

@ stumblin...i went to NYCC and it wasn't as big as SDCC but it was a fun place to go...all Im saying is that San Diego Comic Con cares more about the movies. New York appealed to everyone, alot of anime too.

I've been to the nycc too...and as you said it appealed to everyone as it had it's fair share of b-movie booths, scifi presentations and anime as you said...just like here.

As long as for the most part the site sticks with comic book related stories I really dont see the harm with the odd Avatar article review or any other non related comic book article as long as its within the same type of genre as CBM's!

@ blackairs

galactus has stated many times that this site is for CBM's and anything else that would interest the majority of its visitors. also, everyone that posts articles are doing it through their personal fan sites. the fan sites are our personal little corner of the main site.

and there is nothing worse than working hard on an article that is popular, and then having some ignorant [frick] post a comment with nothing more to say than, "what does this have to do with comics?" its very easy to not click on an article that doesn't interest you. in fact, its EASIER to NOT click on it than it is to actually CLICK and view it. so its simple. if the headline and description doesn't interest you, then don't read the article. why view an article only to complain that it isn't comic related??

i like a lot a lot of the articles posted on here that are not comic related, but more importantly i like a lot of the PEOPLE that comment on the articles. i'm a regular on this site, and i trust the opinions of people like Tyler, Guardian, Josh, Ror-Machine, LEEE, Mulder, and MANY others (sorry if i left some people out) WAY more than people on other sites. so i'm GLAD that these articles get posted. anytime i can get opinions of things that interest me (comic related or not) in one place, i see that as a winning situation.

@Corndog: Wow! Well said! I completely agree!

I think the real problem here is that there's just not enough comic book movie news right now. I really wish there was some news on a Superman movie, the 3rd Batman movie, Captain America, Ed Norton being in the Avengers, etc. Unfortunately all we got right now are Avatar reviews and a bunch of other stuff I just skip over. It's like having a bunch of side dishes for your meal without a main entre. This is sort of the appetizer season for comic book movie news (Jan-Feb). You'll check this sight 100 times a day and be so bored you'll read articles about stuff you don't really care much about.

I don't have a problem with non comic related articles. As has already been stated, its up to each individual to decide what he or she finds interesting enough to read.

I do however have a problem with the rash of (TABLOID) articles that have been posted over the last couple of weeks.

People come to this site for news, and most of the time its fairly reliable and up to the minute.

I for one don't care who is dating who. And I hate reading an article based on information given to the writer by (A GOOD FRIEND). The odds are pretty damn good the article is crap packed, which means reading it was a waste of my time.

It also in my opinion, steals credibility from the site as a whole. I would hate to see CBM's name suffer because some people just want to write an article so bad that facts, or actual substance, are not required.

I agree with you there Hawksblueyes, I'm tired of reading articles only to find their only source is either made up, a friend on the inside, or IMDb. And it's even on stuff that was already debunked months ago and it reappears! That would be my only complaint as well.

@ jusme

thanks man! i just think people are complaining for the sake of complaining, especially since no one is making them view any articles. its up to the visitors of the site to decide what articles they want to read, so i find it a little ridiculous to complain about an article. i would rather have everything that interests me on this site. i LOVE this site, i don't want to go view 3 or 4 different sites to get my news if i can get it all here :)

@Lol! Yeah dude, I love getting all my news from one site. My daily routine used to be SHH.com, g4tv.com, CBM.com, marvel.com, comicbookresources.com, and maybe a few more. Now this is the only site I visit on a consistent daily basis.

@RedSkull: Lol! Dude, this sight is for news not for... wait actually it kinda is for boobs too, but only as a pleasant cameo.

I agree wholeheartedly Hawks@ & Corndog@ this site is not for
tabloid journalism. It is for CBM news and related
news. I don't like the tabloid dating stuff either.
CBM is a legitimate CBM/manga/fantasy site. let's keep
it up to standards!

But boobies OK!!!! :D

Me like um boobies!!!
