From here on out, every July of each year I will post a poll asking which actress will be the leading lady of the next year's series of superhero films.

Next year, we will be witnessing Thor, Green Lantern, and Captain America: The First Avenger, and along with those we will be introduced to these actresses playing the love interests to our favorite heroes.

The winner will be announced January 1st, 2011.

Good question. If you go by the premise of "who will likely be The Leading Lady Of 2011 Superhero Films?", then my educated guess/vote would go to Portman. She is an established actor under the direction of a formidable director. It's a no-brainer really.

p.s. Lively looks like she went to ghetto-est neighborhood and picked out the most synthetic wig she could get her hands on. And you though Hally Berry's wig looked bad ...

You should add Alice Eve.

CBK - 7/19/2010, 1:39 PM
@McLovin I'm pretty sure that's not a wig.
McLovin
McLovin - 7/19/2010, 1:52 PM
@ CBK - Really? Cause it sure looks like one. Besides, her character on GG is a blond. Unless her character is written with a "hair color change", there is no way she would damage her hair by coloring it dark brown, then bleaching it and dying it blond again. The odds are that it's a wig, and for the looks of that picture, not a very good one.

uumm you forgot Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif

@mclovin that isnt a wig Lively has on, she dyed it

At least @mclovin agrees with me on Lively, and boy did I come across a GL fan yesterday that really went off on her more than I did.

Then you really cant judge a poll, none of the trailers are even out yet, and Thor has not one but 2 leading ladies in it, and it would hvae been 3 if it Amora was in it. Jaimie will break out as Sif, then this poll will have to change

@ tea - well, I thought the question was more geared towards performance, but since you brought that up ...

but if that is the case, I am giving serious consideration to becoming a priest.

You can call me... Father McLovin !!!

@KaBoom Ya, I want Alice Eve, she's the most accomplished out of the cast of First Class so far so it seems like shes the only choice.

I think that Blake Lively's character Carol Ferris, ultimately, is the strongest of all three females.
McLovin
McLovin - 7/19/2010, 3:43 PM
@ Creature - I agree with that statement and that is precisely what concerns me. Her role is the most significant and she is the least accomplished out of the three. It is possible that she is very talented and will give an outstanding performance, but I would not have taken that chance with such an important movie. I would have gone the safer route and tried to cast Evangeline Lilly instead of this CW actress. Call me crazy, but that is what I would have done.

Haven't really seen Lively act, but her previous work was Gossip Girl and that for me is not a great, demanding role unlike Portman wich have been in great movies, so I think Portman will be better.

"You should add Alice Eve."

I think the actress cast as Jean Grey should represent X-Men.

@mclovin I think he and I are on the same page as a lot of others. the Carol Ferris/Star Sapphire role is important down the line, and I dont need to go into anything further on that.

Yes Natalie Portman has done bigger movies (Star Wars duh) and has been nominated for an Oscar but IMO Sif is a more important character in Thor than Jane Foster is really.

@ claybo - I agree 100% with you! But I somehow think that this movie will give focus on Dr. Foster more than Sif. Perhaps Sif will have a bigger role in the sequel ...

Blake Lively as Carol Ferris is my top pick. Then Captains gal and then Portman. Dont get me wrong, Portman is a great actor but I've havent followed Thor and she is already known for her acting skills. Lively has a lot to prove and she has gone from zero to hero on my list. She can bomb but that seems unlikely. CANT WAIT FOR GREEN LANTERN 2011!!!!

BMP!
