It was VERY close, but after jockeying for position back and forth for a few days Marvel's Iron Man just came out on top with 11,914 Votes (49.27%). Hot on Mr Stark's heels was the mighty The Dark Knight with 11,620 Votes (48.05%). The other three were pretty much left in the dirt which is a shame. I did expect a stronger showing for X-Men: First Class which came in last! But there you go. That being said, how can anyone argue with the winner? I think Iron Man is destined to be one of the finest examples of the genre for many years.

Here are the results in full..

So there you have it, Iron Man is officially the CBM community's favorite comic book movie out there today. Will our next batch of highly anticipated flicks such as The Avengers, TDKR and The Amazing Spider-Man do anything to change that next year? It's going to be fun finding out.

Since when do we have that many people visiting this site seems like someone created a "bot" or something. Two different people one who wanted TDK and one who wanted Ironman.

Don't get me wrong, TDK was a fantastic movie, but, however, Nolan fans treat it as if it were a work from God (which it wasn't). It is very overrated.

Iron Man very much deserves this title. :)

I'm disappointed that TDK didn't win, but I'm more troubled by the fact that Spiderman 2 received so few votes, that is a fantastic movie.

If you look at how close it is, I don't think the bat fans have anything to be sad about. I loved TDK and IM. I think the both sit in a well deserved place.

Iron Man IS fun, smart, enjoyable, fiction, fantasy, heroic, thrilling, a perfect combination of actors, mostly RDJ, director and script, unlike tdk where although is a very good movie, falls into the category of a police drama, where the main character uses a custome to battle the bad guys, other than that still a police drama, it's not fun but enjoyable, I think Batman Begins is far better than tdk but that's just my opinion.
Kudos to RDJ who put "Tony Stark" in a major league, while Bale' character could've use a ricola and ruin the character for me...

WTF...

The BEST CBM of all time isn't even up there???

P.S. Having First Class up there is an ultimate joke... Spider-Man 2 tho an TDK rightly so!

marvel72 - 11/13/2011, 11:37 AM
iron man is the better movie, but the voting on here is questionable.

nearly 12,000 votes each for the dark knight & iron man, really normally nolanites make sure nothing beats the dark knight.
jazzman
jazzman - 11/13/2011, 11:39 AM
actually both Iron Man and TDK are good. but i consider TDK not your typical comic book movie it went beyond that while Iron Man is.

It's weird how each poll brings more and more users. It used to be only 5,000 of us would vote, then it got up to 15,000, now it's 24,000.

Oh, and now that Marvel finally came out on top against TDK, no one is going to accuse anyone of voting multiple times?

I'm not saying anyone did, and if people did, then it could happen for both TDK and Iron Man, I'm just pointing out the double standard...

@BenSandwitch

"Don't get me wrong, TDK was a fantastic movie, but, however, Nolan fans treat it as if it were a work from God (which it wasn't). It is very overrated.

Iron Man very much deserves this title. :)"

Actually, you are wrong there, because out of these two movies, it is The Dark Knight that indisputably changed the CBM genre. I understand what you mean by calling it overrated, but Iron Man is also very overrated. I mean, come on, it's a MARVEL film, so of course it's overrated. Still good, but still overrated.

Both TDK and Iron Man are amazing, though.

MovieMaster - 11/13/2011, 11:41 AM
@Dmon- the site has millions of page views per month, but people were cheating the polls. Iron Man and TDK both gained around 1,500 votes in 1 minute last night.

AC1 - 11/13/2011, 11:41 AM
Yay! I win!
I love TDK but it's not a CBM IMO, it's a movie using characters based on those in a long running comic series, but nothing about the plot is very comic-booky to me.

Iron Man is the perfect example of blending believability and the best of the comic, all they did was update the vietnam setting to fit afghanistan instead. It's fun, action packed, and at times hilarious. It's literally a comic book brought to life.

X-Men is also a good film, but it's too different from the comics to be a contender in this list IMO. It's kind of an anti-TDK IMO, a great film based more on the story of the comic but changing a lot of characters and dynamics to fit into another scenario.

@ leee777

watchmen = best dc movie, with superman the movie a close 2nd.

iron man = best marvel movie,with spider-man 2 a close 2nd.

AC1 - 11/13/2011, 11:42 AM
@LEEE i agree Watchmen should've been up there, loved that film! Disagree about First Class though, it was a great film, just a really poor adaptation (which is why it didn't win)
MovieMaster
MovieMaster - 11/13/2011, 11:43 AM
@CaptainTall- I was just about to say that lol! If TDK won then everybody would be writing about how the Nolanites cleared their cookies over and over again just to make sure it won, but that's not the case with Iron Man! But of course, the Marvelites NEVER cheated during the voting....

PoPcornDude - 11/13/2011, 11:49 AM
if you didn't know, you can vote, in ANY poll here, multiple times, I didn't in this poll but usually I can see how the tdk fans vote like 10 -25 times a minute when it comes to their product...
anyway, I'm glad Iron Man won.
Zoolitron
Zoolitron - 11/13/2011, 11:51 AM
I think is right. For many years I thought Spider-man 2 was the best CBM adaptation so far, but then came Ironman and just won the first place. So I think Iron is the second best CBM. I'm a DC fan and above all a batman fan, but I'll always disapoint the costume of Batman (all black? and looking like RoboCop?)Please! Enough with Burton's vision!
RunDTC

we all know the voting was rigged....by people with nothing else to do except rig polls.

Sorry, I meant SPIDEY 2 is the second best CBM.
Jakeroo
Jakeroo - 11/13/2011, 12:03 PM
My problem with dark knight?
Nolan sucks all the comicbook fun out of his movies by trying to be TOO realistic. His movies become drama's
(yes good acting heath ledger) about people who dress weird.
---------------
Except for some spotty CGI (iron mans frist flight
not the fighter jet chase) I love the first iron man.

All that being said.. Have you all lost your minds??

SUPERMAN The MOVIE and most of superman 2 Is/are the best comic book movie(s) of all time. They still look and play well afte all this time.

The first Zorro with Antonio Banderas ,which to me seems like a comic book is AMAZING!!!

As cool as the marvel studios movies are, why do most lack a good final battle?? I'll take Spidey vs. Green Goblin in Spiderman over Iron Man vs. Iron Monger.

I love all the movies chosen, but the ones that felt like a comicbook to me were SpiderMan 2 and X-men first class.
