Say what you will about Total Film, they do love their CBMs. This is only the latest of many comic movie related "best ofs" they have featured, and as always, is bound to divide opinion. The full top 50 is well researched and thought out, but there are (imo) some bizarre inclusions and exclusions, as well as rankings. But that's the beauty of different opinion! At the very least it will lead to some interesting debate, and the inevitable uninteresting trolling.
Anyway, here are their top 5..
5) "The Kiss" From Spider-Man
This came close to wining our own "Most Romantic Moment" poll, and is no doubt an iconic scene from Sam Raimi's first Spidey flick.
What they say..
Why It’s Great: Despite the pouring rain and unconventional positioning, it’s a remarkably steamy moment. Andrew Garfield and Emmas Stone will have to go some to top it.
4) "Kneel Before Zod" From Superman II
Another scene - or line at least - that has gone down in CBM history. Don't expect Michael Shannon to repeat it word for word in Zack Snyder's reboot, but I'm sure we'll get a little homage at least. Only a jokey looped version is available for embed, but you get the idea.
What they say..
Why It’s Great: Terrence Stamp is superbly poised throughout this sequence, from the opening command, to the gentle correction of “God,” to “Zod”. Imperious!
3) "I'm Batman" From Batman Begins
Here's one I wouldn't have so high up, in fact I'd argue that the line was delivered first and probably to better effect in Tim Burton's
Batman. But a great scene nonetheless.
What they say..
Why It’s Great: It’s our first chance to see Bale’s Batman in full effect, and he’s clearly not a man to be trifled with…
2) Wolverine Lets The Animal Loose In X-Men 2
The moment fans finally got to see some of Logan's "berserker rage", or at least as berserker as PG13 allows! Here is the first kill in the kitchen.
What they say..
Why It’s Great: Wolverine finally gets to put those claws to good use, slicing and dicing his way through the invading party. Badass…
1) The Interrogation Scene From The Dark Knight
I guess Total Film are "Nolanites" eh? Easily one of the most popular scenes here on CBM, and indeed among movie goers in general, is the moment in
The Dark Knight when Batman and The Joker finally have a little sit down.
What they say..
Why It’s Great: Heath Ledger is brilliantly insidious as the taunting Joker, whilst Bale also deserves props for embodying Batman’s impotent rage. A wonderful head-to-head, and the best moment in the best comic-book movie ever made.
