Tom Clancy, who is well-known for writing the Jack Ryan book series and Splinter Cell, died last night of an unknown cause. He was Age 66. In memory of him, the first official poster has been released for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, featuring Chris Pine.

Pine takes the character to its beginning, where the injured Marine is recruited by CIA vet Kevin Costner to work as a high-level analyst. The two are pitted against a Russian oligarch (played by Branagh) who is pulling the strings of the financial market and delving into international terrorism with potential global catastrophic results.

A reboot of the Jack Ryan franchise, the film features Chris Pine as the title character, stars Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner in supporting roles, and is directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also stars in the film.

Great books, and great video games inspired by his books.

The tactical shooter RAINBOW SIX: ROGUE SPEAR has no modern equal, and that's a damn shame.

R.I.P. Mr Clancy. I'm still looking forward to an adaptation of Rainbow Six, probably one of the best novels I've ever read.
Also, I just finished Splinter Cell Blacklist, and although Tom Clancy only endorsed games bearing his name (he had no creative input other than the first Rainbow Six game), it had a vintage Clancy feel to it.

@ Repoman - It doesn't matter one bit whether he wrote comics or not, the world just lost one of it's most creative authors. I've read plenty of articles on here that bare no relation to comics (usually an article about something worthless just because it stars a "Hugh Jackman" or a "Henry Cavill")
