According to the trades of
Variety, veteran actor Kevin Bacon, named one of the best actors never to have received an Academy Award nomination, will appear in the Robert Schwentke-directed comic book adaptation of
R.I.P.D.. The actor is in final negotiations for the film's antagonist, joining Ryan Reynolds, and Academy Award-Winner Jeff Bridges.
This supernatural flick will be Bacon's 2nd comic book movie, starring in last month's
X-Men: First Class prequel, giving a memorable perforamance as that film's antagonist, Sebastian Shaw. Most known for his
Mystic River role, the actor is currently filming
Jayne Mansfield's Car, directed by Billy Bob Thorton.
R.I.P.D. is based on the comicbook series by Peter Lenkov, and follows a cop killed in the line of duty who is recruited by a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department. He then tries to find the man who murdered him. And so far starring Ryan Reynolds (Nick Walker), Jeff Bridges (Bo), and Jodie Foster (Procter) rumored, the film is slated for theaters June 28, 2013.
