Anonymous SOLO Actor Dishes On Those Reshoots And Lead Star Alden Ehrenreich Being "Not Good Enough"

A very interesting new story goes into detail about those behind the scenes issues and Ron Howard's reshoots, shedding light on everything from Alden Ehrenreich's performance to Lord & Miller being fired.

We recently learned that fired directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will receive will receive executive producer credits for Solo: A Star Wars Story and now a new report sheds a little more light on all that behind the scenes drama. An actor from the movie who refuses to be named has spoken to Vulture about the production and it sounds like all the bizarre claims we've been hearing were 100% accurate.

For starters, it's said that Lord and Miller simply weren't ready for Star Wars because "After the 25th take, the actors are looking at each other like, 'This is getting weird.'" It's said that the duo "seemed out of control" and couldn't handle the pressure of being in charge of a huge movie with so many moving parts. This source also says that the first assistant director often stepped in to help them.

Lord and Miller's spokesperson dismisses that as "completely inaccurate" but what would you expect? Regardless, the report also reveals that replacement director Ron Howard was easy to work with and confident with the material but all those reshoots weren't to shoot new scenes; they were just conducted to redo all of Lord and Miller's scenes as the script was the same and nothing was changed.

"Trying to mimic Harrison Ford is really tough," the source adds in regards to Alden Ehrenreich. "Lucasfilm wanted something very specific: copying someone else. Alden’s not a bad actor — just not good enough." Apparently, his performance ultimately improved when an acting coach was hired, so we probably shouldn't worry too much about him letting Solo: A Star Wars Story down this May.

What do you think of these new details? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts below.

I am personally not excited for this movie, but I will keep an open mind. Heck Rogue One turned out to be a great movie with all the reports of the movie being a mess.

@JoeMomma29

Rogue One was fine imo up until the third act which was great. Definitely elevated the movie. Characters were still flat af.

@JoeMomma29 - it’s a film that I was largely against making from the moment it was suggested, and yet now I find myself defending not because I’ve really come around on it, but because... hmmm... I don’t know. I feel sorry for everyone involved?

I still think the idea of doing Young Han Solo is just a bad one, but attacking it for all of the other rumors just seems unsporting.

@JoeMomma29 -
I thought Rogue One was weak until the third act, and by then I stopped caring.

@JoeMomma29 - Damn if Rogue one is any example this movie will be worse than I expect.

My opinion, of course. RO is baaad.

@Fogs - So much hate for RO? Lol, I'll take that over Return of the Jedi any and every day of the week!

@YoloSwaggins812 - omg nooooooo lol

To each his own, of course. To me rogue one is really reeeally bad. Eye candy (except for the crappy cgi faces) but that's it.

Still sounds like a shit show. WHY they cast Alden I have no idea. I'm not hopeful.

@toylled - Same. The moment I heard he'd been cast I stopped being interested, not that I was really interested to begin with anyway. He may look like a younger Harrison Ford, but it doesn't mean he's good for the role.

When everyone was saying that Anthony Ingruber should have gotten the role because he looks like Ford and can do a good impression of him, I thought it was a bloody ridiculous idea, but now that I know he voices the Joker in the Telltale Batman game, I've gotta admit, it's not such a terrible idea after all.

@TerryTerrapin - We've already seen 'bits' of him in that pathetic trailer, and he doesn't look/feel like Han at all. Worrying that they didn't show much of him. It's hardly a secret they can't reveal, so maybe the acting is as bad as they say it is? I feel it's going to go into the prequel bin with 1,2,3, and a few copies of Rogue One.

They really missed the opportunity to just make a Lando movie starring Donald Glover. He's one of the most talented guys out right now and everyone's on board with him as a star, and you also don't have to risk the opportunity of changing anyone's perception of a character as important as Han Solo. If I were Disney I'd be kicking myself at the missed opportunity

I'm perfectly prepared for SOLO to be a perfectly 'fine' movie with some cool sequences that doesn't necessarily justify the movie's existence for those skeptical of it while not utterly crapping the bed like many of the skeptics are rightly expecting.

I'm really just here (for Donald Glover) so I don't get fined

A friend of mine said something I could not agree with more.

Miller and Lord have a career of taking things that are bad ideas and making them great.

I think the same would have been true here. We would have gotten something very unique and different from other star wars movies. Something this franchise will need. Ron Howards not a bad director. But i'd rather have someone take a chance, Then go with a safe choice. Creativity is what keeps the spark of film making alive. I hope Lord and Miller get another chance at a big project like this. Cause I think they could make something special.

Lord and Miller could make a shitty Solo origin story work. No doubt.

Yeah it probably should've been Ansel Elgort as Han. He already has the Han vibe, and could've made it his own without needing to copy Harrison.
