AVATAR Producer Jon Landau Shares Concept Art Of The Sequel's Underwater "Crabsuit" Vehicle

Despite the movie being delayed by an entire year thanks to COVID-19, Avatar 2 producer Jon Landau has now shared new concept art which reveals a unique undersea vehicle dubbed the "Crabsuit."

After countless delays (bear in mind that Avatar was released way back in 2009), Avatar 2 was recently pushed back again from its planned December 2021 release date to the following Christmas. 

Now, thanks to producer Jon Landau, we have a first look at the sequel's undersea vehicle, the "Crabsuit." Described as a "human driven multifunction submersible," it seems this will be one of many new Resources Development Administration (RDA) vehicles popping up in the franchise.

Disney has big plans for Avatar moving forward, as a fifth movie is dated for, get this, 2028.

It remains to be seen when we'll get to see any footage from Avatar 2, but thanks to that new 2022 release date, it's probably still a long way off. Director James Cameron did recently screen an early version to crew members, but it's not likely we'll ever be privy to any of that unfinished footage.

This thing’s gonna look incredible in motion. Hoping it’s more Aliens/T2 Cameron in terms of story-telling

@tmp3 - Aliens was a poor sequel to someone else's idea. T2 is so badly written, they've never been able to continue it's story to the point that it's now the laughing stock of the movie franchise world.

Personally love t2 and aliens, but yeah Avatar is overrated crap. Take away the mind blowing effects and it wouldnt have made half of what is made

@Notebook - “Sequel to classic movie is bad, therefore movie is bad” is some insanely faulty logic. If T2 is bad because of lazy sequels then I guess Godfather 2 sucks ass now, right? Also, Aliens went in a completely different direction to Alien, and Cameron put his own stamp on that world

It's cool they are building practical elements and all that but this just feels far too late to make a sequel. People loved this when it came out and then forgot about it. It's not like a timeless classic or anything.

Could Avatar 2 out gross Avengers:Endgame? Or is too late now and should have been released years ago.

@marvel72 - Avatar 1 is supposed to get a re-release before Avatar 2 comes out... and it will likely surpass Endgame as a result.
Its anybody's guess what Avatar 2 and 3 and ... will do in the box office. Like many other Fox properties that Disney got in the deal... it could be a loss considering how much money Cameron is going to put into it.
