Warner Bros. has decided to push back Tom Cruise's All You Need Is Kill, from March 7, 2014 to it's new release date of June 6, 2014. Which is actually a strong sign for the film as it moves into a key summer opening slot. But, the slot already has the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Interesting!

Warner Bros. also pushed 300: Rise Of An Empire from August 2, 2013 to All You Need Is Kill's original release date, March 7, 2014. If 300: Rise Of An Empire opened in August as planned they would've been pitted against Universal's 2 Guns, which stars Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. Seems like they dodged a bullet... or two.

The story unfolds in a near future in which a hive-like alien race, called Mimics, have hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, shredding great cities to rubble and leaving millions of human casualties in their wake. No army in the world can match the speed, brutality or seeming prescience of the weaponized Mimic fighters or their telepathic commanders. But now the world’s armies have joined forces for a last stand offensive against the alien horde, with no second chances.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped—untrained and ill-equipped—into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an Alpha down with him. But, impossibly, he awakens back at the beginning of the same hellish day, and is forced to fight and die again…and again. Direct physical contact with the alien has thrown him into a time loop—dooming him to live out the same brutal combat over and over.

But with each pass, Cage becomes tougher, smarter, and able to engage the Mimics with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt), who has lain waste to more Mimics than anyone on Earth. As Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated battle becomes an opportunity to find the key to annihilating the alien invaders and saving the Earth.

I don't see anything interesting about the 300 sequel other than Eva Green.

The only reason 300 is a meh to me is cause Snyder isnt behind it. But who knows. Murro might suprise.

I agree with you 300 was one of the best action movies out there. Granted this sequel is not from Snyder but I am excited to see it!

"could care less for 300" so you're saying that you do care

Loved 300 and even though Zack isn't directing the sequel the subject matter alone is an attraction to me. Always loved sword and sandal films, even on water

And Cruise is on a ROLL with his roles lately :)

Kill will be the better film but Bay Turtles is going steamroll over it in BO that weekend. Bold but not a very wise move by WB. 300 will probably benefit from it's new slot in the same way GI Joe 2 did.

That is actually some smart thinking. 300 would've been eaten up by the late summer crush. The first 300 performed damn well as a Spring sleeper hit with very little in the way of competition. By August, it likely would have been a victim of summer blockbuster/CBM fatigue.

As for All You Need Is Kill, Oblivion helped prove Cruise can still open (something he hasn't actually done in awhile), so I guess Warner is banking on him doing it again with a similar kind of film (both sci fi CBMs, though Oblivion barely counts as a CBM as that aspect of the film was essentially a scam to get it greenlit).

And something tells me the new TMNT isn't going to exactly be a strong competitor against AYNIK. While there's absolutely overlap between potential moviegoers, I don't see them chasing the same exact audience.

One more thing, the author of this page should add 'based on manga 'all you need is kill...."...I don't think most people here know that 'all you need is kill' was an adaptation from manga with the same title.

In before they rename "All You Need is Kill." There's no way they're gonna release a movie for today's politically correct audiences with the word "kill" in the title.

Also, 300 sequel = shit movie.

@ rocky

"could care less for 300" so you're saying that you do care

it doesn't make sense,"couldn't care less for 300" is the correct way of saying it.

@marvel.
Exactly, I was trying to correct 2 posters who both said "could care less" who obviously don't get the saying. I was just doing it in a subtle way
