Don't Call JURASSIC WORLD A "Reboot," Says Director

Revealing the (accurate) period of time that will have passed in Jurassic World since the events of the first Jurassic Park movie, director Colin Trevorrow debunks speculation that it's a reboot!

Before Universal Pictures announced Jurassic World with its summer 2015 release date, the actor who played Dr. Allen Grant in Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III, Sam Neill, had suggested that the fourth film would be a big reboot, or "a total re-jig" of the dino franchise. Well, that's not the case according to director Colin Trevorrow, who has taken to his Twitter account to set the speculation straight. "Reboot is a strong word," he noted in response to another tweet. "This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of Jurassic Park," Trevorrow added. 22 years will be an accurate timespan in 2015 as the original Jurassic Park movie was released in 1993.

With that said, we can safely add Jurassic World to the overloaded list of anticipated sequels of 2015. Anyhow, possibly starring Chris Pratt as "a rugged ex-military man," and Bryce Dallas Howard as a "smart corporate scientist," with young actors Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson playing her nephews, Jurassic World is produced by Steven Spielberg, and is set for release on June 12, 2015!

Probably going to be like Transformers 4. The previous movies happened, but they mean little to the story.

I now expect a new redesign of dinosaurs top from bottom, a whole new cast with Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum in talks for cameos, and....

Wait.

good, as sucky as the lost world and jp III are, a reboot would be ill advised. the premise of the original still holds strong

Jurassic Park is a franchise that never should've had sequels in the first place. Or at least, sequels that were as bad as the ones we got. I grew up with the first Jurassic Park as my favorite movie ever and the one thing that got me into dinosaurs as a kid.

I pretend Jurassic Park III and to a lesser extent, The Lost Word: Jurassic Park never even happened, so the less they refer to those movies in the 4th movie, the better. It's a shame not even Sam Neill will return, because I bet his experience on the horrible 3rd movie soured him on any thought of returning to this universe.

Just...recapture the charm that the first movie had. With Chris Pratt and that kid from Iron Man 3 already locked up, I seriously doubt this will even come close to how amazing the 1st movie was. Shame.

Glad not a reboot but they said its a relaunch that scary me a little as there no original cast just new people that I don't care about. I hope someone I care about going be in it. Without them not really Jurassic park.

Lost world wasn't bad. Its not exactly a masterpiece that the first film was, but that by no means makes it a terrible picture. The raptors were awesome and the rv scene was awesome.
However the third film is bad

I liked the Lost World but mainly because I love dinosaurs and the scene where Jeff Goldblums daughter "gymnastic" attacks the raptor was so bad it was amazing.

@Intruder

I still don't understand the thought process that went behind that scene, they even set up the foreshadowing for it in the beginning of the movie lol It's just soooo bad why the hell did it happen?

Before the Lost World I'd put my money on a 5 man team of Raptors vs any slasher in a horror film.

The first movie was amazing, and still is to this day.

The second movie was not nearly as good, but still incredibly entertaining (which in my opinion outweighs its flaws)

The third movie was just horrible. Sam Neil was the only likable actor/character (and maybe the kid). The story was basically the parent trap on Jurassic Park.

If they can get someone from the original in this, and not turn it into a dinosaurs take over the world story, I'll go see it. But the title already suggests otherwise.
