Universal Pictures brought their CinemaCon presentation to a close tonight with an extended look at their most anticipated 2022 release, Jurassic World: Dominion, and while they didn't debut an official trailer, they did share plenty of never-before-seen footage from the upcoming blockbuster.

The behind-the-scenes look opened with footage of Steven Spielberg on the set of Jurassic Parkexplaining to a young Joseph Mazzello, who played Tim Murphy, about the mosquito trapped in amber atop John Hammond's (Richard Attenborough) now-iconic cane. It then moves into interview snippets with director Colin Trevorrow, the returning legacy Park cast, and the World cast as they preview what's to come in the franchise's biggest installment yet.

ComicBook was in attendance and provided the following description of what they saw, including what sounds like some really incredible scenes with the franchise's biggest star, the T-Rex.

"Jurassic World: Dominion is a celebration of the franchise. It concludes a story that Stephen Spielberg started in 1993," director Colin Trevorrow says.

"It is everything we could've ever hoped for and more," Dern says. The footage shows the original cast, referred to as "legacy characters," interacting with the "World characters," in many instances."

The movie will ask the question, "If dinosaurs lived amongst us, would you be safe?" Trevorrow explains. "And the answer is no."

A mosasaur emerges form the ocean to eat an entire helicopter. A raptor runs across a building top. A T-Rex is in a city. Stunts. Falling. Vehicles flipping. Sam Neill and the entire cast face to face with a T-Rex in the woods. There is a lot of footage of Neill, Goldblum, Dern, Pratt, Howard, and more all together. The dinosaurs are brilliantly brought to life, seemingly combining modern visual effects with practical opportunities to have a created T-Rex on the set and in camera. It was colorful, thrilling showing of the film."

Here's a second perspective from Gizmodo, which offers a few additional details about what was shown to close the 90-minute presentation.

"The first image was of a pair of brachiosaurus being led by a bunch of vehicles in what looked like a snow-covered quarry. Later, still in that snowy setting, Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) is riding a motorcycle trying to chase down some dinosaurs. There are scenes of Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) trapped in a cage reminiscent of the one from the beginning of the first film. Water is pouring in. There was also a shot of her in a very sunny, well-lit lab. The mosasaurus from Jurassic World jumps out of the water to eat something. A dilophosaurus screams and unleashes his mane. The T-Rex is seen rampaging, of course. We see someone holding a flare. A triceratops smashing against a Jeep. Shots of Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), and then shots of all of the stars from both series looking up at something, reminiscent of the lighting from the T-Rex attack in the first film.

Most interestingly, though, were some scenes in what looked like a European city. We see Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) jumping between buildings while she’s being chased by what looked like a velociraptor. A scene of Claire and Owen Grady jumping down into some ancient tomb. And then a shot of Grady, again on a motorcycle, zipping through some cobblestone streets, chasing what, again, was probably a raptor. Basically, it looked like action scenes from Indiana Jones, Jason Bourne, and James Bond, but with dinosaurs."

The star-studded cast of Jurassic World: Dominion will feature Jurassic alums Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), 3x Golden Globe-nominee Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Academy Award-winner Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Academy Award-nominee Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), Jake Johnson (Lowery Cruthers), Omar Sy (Barry Sembane), Justice Smith (Franklin Webb), Daniella Pineda (Zia Rodriguez), Isabella Sermon (Maisie Lockwood), and BD Wong (Dr. Henry Wu).

Newcomers to the franchise include Mamoudou Athie (Sorry for Your Loss), DeWanda Wise (She's Gotta Have It), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and Scott Haze (Venom). Details on their roles are currently being kept under wraps. Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man) has also joined the cast as Dodgson.

Jurassic World: Dominion is now slated to roar into theaters June 10, 2022.

I still need to watch the second one. Just have no interest in this franchise anymore. I don't even know if this is the third or fourth JW movie.

@Vanillain - I LOVED JW, my son loves JW, i love JP too. JW2 is just as bad if not worse than JP3. This has my interest but i feel like it will stink.

@Vanillain - I took my mother to see Fallen Kingdom because she wanted to go. I enjoyed it well enough on the big screen, just a bit less than the first Jurassic World; but I find it something of a chore to sit through since.

@Vanillain - the whole premise for this film is dumb.

Are supposed to believe the whole world was taken by a couple dozen dinos? Really?

Plus if an european setting is really true I hope they have a good explanation for them crossing the ocean.

I will watch it, but man....these newer ones have just not done it for me.

Jurassic Park 1 is simply a masterpiece and then Lost World is just a bunch of damn fun.

Hopefully the OG cast coming back puts a spark into it for me.

@TocharianMonk - the 1st Jurassic World is OK. They're similar to the SW Sequels to me.

I can't wait for this. I've really enjoyed the two latest films. Jurassic Park is, and will always be, my favourite film of all time.

Jurassic World was a big dumb creature feature that was entertaining but didn’t hold a candle to the original.

Fallen Kingdom went full retard. Such a stupid movie.

That footage sounds crazy, especially the Europe stuff. Wonder how the dinos got there.

And I really hope they have a good reason why it takes so damn long to hunt the dinos and the military can't just swoop in and finish it in a day or week or so.

I'm probably the biggest JP fan on this site, nothing angered me more than Fallen Kingdom. Don't mess this up! Give me a r rated show that follows the book!

Really asking the big questions with this installment aren't we? I mean, is a world filled with dinosaurs safe?
SouthernNeo
SouthernNeo - 8/26/2021, 8:11 AM
I'm looking forward to the final installment, thought JW was fine, FK still ok. My question is how are there enough dinosaurs to pose a significant risk, especially "world wide"? I mean in FK there were only a handful that escaped at the end, right? And those were limited to the Pacific NW, and all the others were killed on the island or are still there. Shouldn't there be like only 30 dinos out there?
