Hugo Weaving Reprises The Role Of THE MATRIX's 'Agent Smith' In New TV Commercial

Regardless of how disappointing the two sequels to The Matrix were to some, there's no denying that it was an awful lot of fun seeing Hugo Weaving's villainous 'Agent Smith' back on the big screen.

Hugo Weaving has made it clear that he didn't exactly enjoy his time working on either the Transformers franchise or Captain America: The First Avenger, but 'Agent Smith' is obviously a role he has no issue with returning to. In the following commercial for GE, the actor once again suits up as The Matrix bad guy in a promo shot by Pineapple Express helmer David Gordon Green.

Sophia Stewart, not the Wachowski brothers, is the real creator of The Matrix. Google it.

Glad to see he's keeping busy with meaningful projects by not playing the Red Skull.

A commercial that associates The Matrix with technology in hospitals makes it seem like the ad people didn't watch the movies.

Commercial wasn't that impressive especially seeing that he doesn't play roles like this anymore.

Considering The Matrix is sort of "out of fashion" and Hugo Weaving as a fairly high-profile actor (for commercials, anyway), it's a wonder this commercial got made.

That said, I'm glad they did it!

Haha, it actually made me laugh at the end there with the lollipops. Fun to see but kind of random too. Unless this is some way of saying that Matrix 4 is on its way... Oh, I can dream.

This commercial gave me much happiness. :o)

You have to understand that waiting for prosthetics to be applied, and wearing them all day, isn't a fun gig.

Beyond awesome seeing Agent Smith again. Or shall I say Agent Smith's, as in THE MATRIX RELOADED; GREATEST ACTION FILM OF ALL TIME.

When it comes to Megatron, all he is doing is providing the voice. He didn't need to so up on set or do mocap. They didn't copy his faced digitally. If they had it all ready he could do all his lines in a day. Megatron shows up near the climax of film one and is barely in 3. He's not a voice actor so it was probably a boring gig compared to spending months learning how to fight.

With Red Skull As the RED Skull, he just kinda just drives up to places and yells at blue screen(he does it well mind you). But again all this is quite boring. And again he probably didn't have to do a whole given that screen time in makeup. As his regular self he was just in the same room all the time.

I think he would want the Red Skull role again if they showed him a challenging role. He'll play a bad guy if he gets to do stuff. I think he was having some fun with that evil demon role in Cloud Atlas.

Weaving is an actor who does films that he enjoys. He didn't enjoy playing Red Skull, but enjoys playing Agent Smith. Get over it!

forget weaving as the redskull, his performance was laughable, forget him as skeletor, let him dwell on his older roles, and move on to something new, better
