We're inching ever closer to the release of The Matrix Resurrections, and Warner Bros. has now debuted a new theatrical poster for Lana Wachowski's follow-up to the original trilogy nobody ever really expected to see.
The one sheet spotlights Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity (Carrie-Ann Moss), the younger incarnation of Morpheus (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), and two new characters we still know very little about. Based on the trailer, we can deduce that Jessica Henwick's Bugs will act as a guide for "Thomas" in much the same way Morpheus did in the first movie. As for the woman in the back, she's so mysterious we're not actually too sure who it is or who's playing her!
Check out the poster below, and keep an eye out for a new trailer any day now.
“The Matrix Resurrections is a continuation of the story established in the first Matrix film… 20 years after the first film, the franchise that helped define pop culture at the turn of the century is back for a continuation and extension of the original movie. A mind-bending new adventure with action and epic scale, it’s set in a familiar yet even more provocative world where reality is more subjective than ever and all that’s required to see the truth is to free your mind"
Other franchise returnees include Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe, Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian, and Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson. Also joining the cast will be Andrew Caldwell, Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Ellen Hollman, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Christina Ricci, Max Riemelt, and Brian J. Smith.
The Matrix Resurrections will be released in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously on December 22.
