When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

@Gusto Why? I would love to see PR become a great franchise! And why no love Hellboy 3? Also, you do realize that if this doesn't do well, we may never see At the Mountains of Madness?

Saw this today, really enjoyed it. Although to be honest it didn't enter my thoughts a single time since leaving the theatre. But I thoroughly enjoyed it while I was watching it. But every time charlie day's little scientist dude opened his mouth I hoped something would eat him. Infuriatingly annoying character, along with his scientist friend. On the other hand: giant monsters vs giant robots! Allow testosterone to flood your system and you'll have a ball.

Well Hollywood was ok with the mess that was Prometheus, and I don't see why Hollywood wouldn't let him now if PR becomes a big hit.

Pacific Rim was great. Made feel like a kid again. Can't remember the last time I saw a movie and just smiled so much in awe of what was happening before me. It's like Gundam Wing, Big O, Neon Genesis Evangalion for the first time again. And the Monsters aren't just mindless creatures attacking. It's a fairly straight forward scifi action movie with comedy, good character development, pacing and a grand cinematic scale. Definitely watch this on the biggest screen possibly, but sit at least half way from the screen. Also, the Imax 3D was amazing, actually had objects look like they were coming out of the screen. Guillermo del Toro is still one of the best Directors and writers ever.
