Prey is set to debut on Hulu in just over two weeks, but those in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con got an early look at the movie last night, and the first reactions have been very positive so far.

Now, 20th Century Studios (via SFFGazette.com) has shared a new TV spot featuring more action-packed footage of Naru (Amber Midthunder) taking the fight to her relentless pursuer.

Quite a few of the early shots have been carried over from the first trailer and a more recent promo, but right at the end, we get our first quick glimpse of the Feral Predator without his mask.

The Predator is only shown from the side, and while he does have the Yautja's signature mandibles, the creature design appears to be quite a bit different to the previous incarnations of the ruthless alien hunter we've seen over the years.

Though Prey is set long before the events of the '80s original, Trachtenberg explained why he doesn't really consider his film to be a prequel during a recent interview.

“I want to specifically say this, because I think there’s been some confusion how people have understood: in my mind, this is not a prequel movie, this isn’t, ‘Let’s tell the origin of the Predator.’ This is really something that’s set prior to the original Predator movie. And the Predator creature in this one, this is its first time travelling to Earth.”

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan, Treadstone), and produced by John Davis (Jungle Cruise, The Predator) and Jhane Myers (Monsters of God), with Lawrence Gordon (Watchmen), Marty Ewing (It: Chapter Two), James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff (Fantasy Island) serving as executive producers.

Prey is set to premiere on the Hulu streaming service on August 5. Keep an eye out for a new trailer very soon!

This looks awesome. I hope we can get other historical predator movies. Predator in the old west, civil war predator, predator in Vietnam, predator sinking the titanic, predator vs samurai, etc

Pretty much this, other than the Titanic option...

The key to Predator movies being that it's a monster trying to hunt/kill you and you have to survive using your skills that are attributed to your prior role. Anyone skilled in a role would be ideal as the potential opponent for the predator to face.

The Samurai movie especially because the Predators value honour, could easily see an awesome Samurai Predator movie that ends with them both acknowledging each other at the end.

@Scarilian - titanic was kind of a joke. Samurai vs Predator would be awesome. Batman vs Predator however...?

@noahthegrand - While I agree that those are all good suggestions and things that I'd like to see on the screen, I'd also like to see something a little more personal, a little closer to home. Such as Predator vs. my ex-fiance who left me for a Hungarian juggler named Chubba (if the Predator can take him out as well that would be even better), Predator vs. my former roommate ("You still owe me $200 Kevin!"), Predator vs. my asshole boss who's making me still work on a Friday evening, Predator vs. the frickin' neighbors who leave their damn trash cans out in the alleyway behind our houses that I have to maneuver around like a game of MarioKart every time I want to leave my house, etc. You know, personal stuff. In fact, I would pay money to watch a movie about a guy who a Predator comes to hunt but instead convinces the Predator to just hunt down the people he doesn't like or are causing him problems. They can call it "Predator: Personal Grievances" and the tagline can be "It came for the thrill of the hunt. It picked the wrong man to hunt. A man with... personal grievances".

“ Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior.”

Highly skilled? From a tribe where women are not trained to fight.

@SpaceParanoids - Google is your friend, hater!

"and some single girls, wild spirits, ran off with warriors going raiding, despite the scandal to their families. Women could fight if necessary. Sometimes they formed a second line of battle, sniping from cover with arrows..." (Comanche: The history of a People - TR Fehrenbach)

"Among the Comanche, women sometimes would "snipe with bows and arrows from fringes of the fray" (Wallace and Hoebel, 1952, p. 253)

@HeeroG - Funny how white historians say one thing when the actual Comanche nation says something very different.
I always trust the source when discussing their own culture.

But since some historians say the Ancient Egyptians weren’t black but were olive skinned and influenced culturally but Greece, Rome and Macedonia….I guess you would have to accept that right?

Because some of your other angry friends on this site were livid at me for the mere suggestion and vehemently dismissed “white historians” who were “white washing” history.

So which is it slick?

@SpaceParanoids - Why are you going off on a tangent?

You keep talking about Comanche women not being able to fight in every article about this movie. I present you with quotes from books by historians, saying that, yes it wasn't common or lightly accepted by their society, but it did ocasionally happened, and then you go on a tangent about "white historians" and other members of this site.
Why are you so desperate?
SpaceParanoids
SpaceParanoids - 7/22/2022, 5:35 PM
@HeeroG - Oh no tangent, but I find it interesting that you are willing to accept white washed Native American history from 70 years ago over actual Comanche history.

You do realize that it was only about 10 years ago that Native Americans were allowed by the Federal Government to write their own historical texts about Native Americans BY Native Americans.

And the Federal Government only approves about two every year. It has been common practice that those texts have to be approved by the Feds for public publishing and distribution.

So the texts you are referencing were a white washed text not written by Native Americans that provided a controlled narrative they the Federal Government wanted people to know about Native American history.

Comanche women were forbidden to fight. They may have gone off with the warriors but that was because they were brought along for sex.
Comanche would capture women from other tribes and either rape them, keep them as concubines or as slaves.

That’s the actual history. So go back another 70 years to see what you can find because Native Americans weren’t allowed to tell their history after 1890, and you’ll find a controlled version…..and you will still be wrong.

Bottom Line: That little girl in “Prey” is created for the narrative. She would never have been allowed to fight.
Period.
HeeroG
HeeroG - 7/22/2022, 7:02 PM
@SpaceParanoids - And if you paid any attention to the [frick]ing sinopse and trailer you would see that she won't be allowed to fight by the tribe, but she will do anyways because it's the [frick]ing point of her arc!
And if you know [frick]ing history, you know that in any [frick]ing society through history there was those who defied the rules and norms even if made them be looked down by others.
So stop making excuses about the fact that any woman getting a more substancial role make you feel disgusted.
SpaceParanoids
SpaceParanoids - 7/23/2022, 12:22 AM
@HeeroG - No, HISTORY would be that she would not be allowed to fight at all. As I have said before, the Comanches were like Ancient Sparta.
The men were the warriors. The women did farming and had kids. The women were tough only because the men were tough and if the women weren’t tough they would not be able to deal with the men.
But the women in Sparta, and in the Comanches….were never allowed to fight.

But noting how you totally avoided my accurate point about Native American history being white washed, the same white washed history that you continually reference, that tells me that you accept I am right and don’t know how to defend against my point.

Hopefully you learned about some history today. It’s important.

I told you, The Bestest Eveerr

A little girl is going to protect her Comanche tribe. Comanches, some of the most fierce warriors in history on this continent.
The Comanche warriors were so bad ass they are the reason the Spanish never got further north in their invasion into the country and why the French never went further West.

But a little girl is going to save them all.
