Scratch Brad Bird Off Your STAR WARS Director Wishlist

Scratch Brad Bird Off Your STAR WARS Director Wishlist

Although never actually rumored as a potential choice to helm the new movie, Bird was the director many fans hoped to see land the job. Well unfortunately the following tweet makes things pretty clear - although Bird does suggest the sci-fi flick he IS working on (presumably 1952) will be worth waiting for..

Brad Bird was definitely the name brought up most when potential directors for Star Wars Episode VII were being discussed. He seemed not only to be the fan's first choice, but many other directors, actors and net-journos too. Just take a look at this fan-made campaign video to get an idea of what I'm talking about..

But as you can see from the following Tweets, it just wasn't meant to be..

Are you disappointed by this? Or were you never expecting him to be in consideration based solely on popular choice anyway? Sound off below.

It seems like whenever fans choose somebody they like a couple days later that director says he doesn't want to do it. I wonder who will be the next director to say he's not interested.

I'm with Froggy, I'd rather have him open for a Justice league movie. Although I think he would have been excellent for SW7

Would have loved to see him do Episode VII, but it's understandable if he can't or doesn't want to do it. I trust that Disney will find a good director.

I'd love to see him working on it (who doesn't!?), but I've never expected it, either. I've been saying that the director most likely won't be one of the "fanboy-friendly" names...

Still, I'm hoping it would be Duncan Jones, George Nolfi, or even Joe Johnston.

I can't believe there is more talk about Matthew Vaughn doing it... What would make you drop doing Xmen First Class 2? His Secret Service movie? No. An opportunity to do Star Wars. We have heard nothing from him since dropping Xmen. I am not saying he is my first choice, but he is my guess who is going to do it.

@HalloweenJack, Brad Bird has been successful with everything, even saving Ratatouille. Bird knows how to make a great movie, and until he makes a stinker, he should be considered one of the best directors around. I'm sure he would have done a great job with Star Wars . . .

But I would rather see him do Incredibles 2. I would rather see him do Incredibles 2 than a JLA movie, or a Star Wars movie, or any Marvel movie or any other movie.

enough with the star wars movies. i have it up to here with nerdy fanboys complaining about how their childhood has been destroyed. I had to listen to this 3 times already and I don't want to hear all the whining when they get butthurt the next time.

That's really disappointing. First Steven Spielberg, and now Brad Bird.

At this point, it really could be anybody. It's a shame, but it's very understandable as to why no one wants to touch it: this is a massive responsibility.
