Award-winning journalist Elizabeth Richards' debut Young Adult novel, BLACK CITY, is the first book in a new fantasy series (also called BLACK CITY) being published by PUTNAM JUVENILE. The novel is set for release on November 13, but Screen Gems has already acquired the rights to adapt the series for the big screen, citing the high level of anticipation for the book as their reason.

BLACK CITY is set sometime after humans and a race called "Darklings" have fought in a terrible war. In a city where humans and Darklings are separated by a huge wall, Ash Fisher, a sixteen-year-old half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a sixteen-year-old human, meet and fall in love.

I try not to be a negative guy, but I have to say that the summary of this book does not inspire confidence.
I also try not to jump on bandwagon hate, but the one and a half TWILIGHT films that I've seen were just really, truly awful. Just UNBELIEVABLY poor. It absolutely blows my mind that the series has seen the kind of success that will spawn countless imitators.
