Day of the Doctor is undeniably the most iconic episode in the Doctor's history.
Steven Moffat has done an amazing job writing a script that left all of us in tears of joy. Bringing together the best Doctors, past and present. Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Hurt took on their roles as if they had been playing the part for hmmmm..about 1200 years? It was something else!
Here are my Top 5 things explained:
5 John Hurt Hurt play the
War Doctor exactly as it was meant to be. The Time War was the darkest day in the Doctor's history because of him, but as David and Matt got to know there past self, they learned that there was no other way to save Galifrey other than to blow it up. If not for Clara of course, always saving the Doctor. John for a moment knew he was the Doctor again.
4 Tom Baker This, I never seen coming. The return of the man with the scarf, the great fourth Doctor himself.
The Curator of the museum. He told Matt about the actual title of the painting 'Galifrey Falls No More'. Apparently Matt has a lot to do and now that he knows Galifrey survived he must go home. Tom Baker's return in my opinion could be a lot bigger than we think, but I'll talk about that at a later date...
3 Galifrey Falls No More The actual title of the Time Lord painting. This proved to Matt that Galifrey is safe, but lost. Matt knows this is where he must go, he must find his way home, back to where it all began with William Hartnell, but not with his face Capaldi's for Matt has one last battle to fight before he goes searching for his beloved home. This will be series 8 and series 9 will be the Doctor working with Galifrey like it used
2 Clara Clara, in my opinion was again the hero. She told Matt what he had to do. ' Do what you have always done, be a Doctor'. She made the Doctor's think again about using 'The Moment' to blow up Galifrey. She practically saved the day and the Doctor's once again. Always going to save the Doctor. Clara is a great companion and like Sarah Jane will never be forgotten.
1 13 Doctors This for all had to be the greatest moment of the episode. The calculation that started with Hartnell. Capturing Galifrey in one single moment frozen in time. Allowing it to disappear and the Daleks kill each other, indeed a perfect plan. All the Doctors coming in to save the day. Peter Capaldi even got a cameo looking very angry/pissed of. This scene was perfect, and made everyone scream with excitement. A scene that will be remembered in Doctor Who history. A reunion to save the planet.
There are my Top 5 things in the 50th Anniversary, but with Matt's final battle at Christmas to come and the regeneration, where does this leave us?
This day will tie up all loose ends Matt has through his series' and apparently Capaldi's run will be much shorter than Matt's. What does this mean? I for sure don't know. For now here's to another 50 years of Who and Bow ties are very very cool! Sign off your Top 5 below
